Round 18 2024 Non Essendon Games

Anyone else seen the video of Adam Simpson apparently saying “you had your say” to Harley Reid as he walks passed him in the press conference today?

Agree, They are by far the most bipolar side in the league and their best is good enough.

Didn’t Reid say " I want you to stay" everyone else is crossed arms

Dogs are done, they are dispirited, playing without any passion, apart from The Bont.

All jokes aside for a moment.
Coll defeating Gee is a better result for Essendon.

We have the Cats just 2 Prem pts behind us with an accommodating draw.
The Pies have a tougher run and injuries.
The Premiership defence is over !

It’s a bit of a pity for us that the Bulldogs, who we don’t play again this season, look as though they are kind of cooked.

Because they could have done some real favours for us knocking off some teams around us to make life a bit easier.

This is their draw for the remainder of the H&A season:

Carlton
Geelong
Sydney
Melbourne
Adelaide
North
GWS

Basically 5 of the 7 games could have a bearing on us and we’d love them to pinch a few. But with their injury list now I could legitimately see a situation where they don’t win another game and Bevo gets sacked.

Weightman out with groin soreness is always alarm bells, despite them saying he’s a chance this week, Liam Jones out for 2-4, Naughton and O’Donnell out this week and Harmes and Johannison out longer term.

Bontempelli will single handedly win them a game or two.

Ideally other than the NM and Adelaide ones because they mean nothing to us.

Let’s hope they finish this season better than last then. In their final 8 games they only managed to knock off a cooked Richmond and in the final round of the season a Geelong team who had sent all and sundry in for surgery and wanted to lose. And Bont was there for all of it. Flaky mob.

Disagree, 4th is free shot at the chickens with a home final the next week if we lose. Bring it.

Sydney in Sydney Qual.Final.
Free hit…sure.
Realistically though, what are we talking ?..1 out of 5 chance ?

Now, Carlton at the G…1 out of 3 ?

How about Carlton slip up a bit and we edge out Freo for 2nd.
Qual.Final Freo at the G…surely that’s 50/50 ?

Weightman and Naughton back soon, they are the only important ones.

So we get slaughtered then face a team who has won the week before and has their tail up.

2nd, 3rd or 5th please. 4th is the death seat.

No mate.
A Double Chance is always better.
It’s a free swing with little expectation of a win against Sydney.

It’s more guaranteed Final’s experience for a playing group with precious little.

I desperately want to finish above 4th if possible, but I strongly disagree with 5th being better than 4th.

5th we play GC or Freo here.

We can either go into week 2 of the finals with a thumping at the hands of Sydney or a morale boosting victory. I know which one I’m gong for.

You have chosen 2 of the least likely opponents we would have to finish 8th.

Have a look at the current bottom 4 of the 8.
There is no easy game there…

I reckon Freo are going to finish significantly higher than 8th. They are playing finals like, difficult to play against, two way footy and are very healthy in terms of availability.

A month back I was thinking they’d be an ideal finals opponent if we got them here in Melbourne but I think they’re a little better than I initially gave them credit for.

Yeah fair call.
Probably not Freo.

I’d take Collingwood though.

Same, would rather Port Adelaide even with our ■■■■ record against them. They’re that flaky

Not necessarily. Sure, it wasn’t in Sydney, but they just lost to Stinkilda
