Round 2 vs St Kilda - the morbid speculation thread

Finding this hard to process in my head. It was my first thought after the game. Zaka seemed to not give a ■■■■ at all. Showed no heart and i thought he’d be a good straight swap for Parish. Looking at numbers Zaka seemed to do ok but i just couldn’t see it. The papers have him in our top 3 players too. Are they basing that purely on stats? He ■■■■■■ me off so much.

don’t want to agree with that numpty.

But it is time for some tough love from the supporters… I know of a garden supply place near tullamarine that specialise in bulk chicken manure delivery

He is a classic stat padding footballer, who looks for the easy possession and then fluffs the pass

Out: Myers, bags

In: lav, parish,

Plenty of others should be on notice. If Myers is going to spend so much time forward he shouldn’t be in the side. Play lav.

We can’t get Gleeson and hooker back into the side quick enough imo.

Saad Hurley Francis
McKenna Ambrose Ridley

Merret Shiel hepp
Tbell McGrath parish

Smith Brown Fanta
Tippa smack stringer

Langford Zaha lav guelfi

I missed the first half but I thought Guelfi was the only one who put in 2nd and 3rd efforts. Looked out of depth at times, though.

Parish is the most certain ‘In’ I’ve seen for a very long time.

80% disposal efficiency though

Changes for mine would be Parish back into the side, despite beating the crap out of an insipid Coburg you just have to reward a BOG performance.

Out: McKernan, Baggers (Just didn’t do enough)

IN: Parish and Laverde.

On notice: Zerrett, Orazio, Myers. (Basically another performance like last week and expect to play 2 rounds in the twos and do cardio drills for two weeks)

The team focus for the week: Winning clearances around the ground, two way running and not bombing it long when we have the ball.

Focus for the defenders: Stop kicking it down the right boundary line from the goal square every time we have a defensive kick out. It’s predictable and honestly what is it achieving? At best a stoppage at the boundary line at worst a turn over and shot for goal.

Focus for the midfielders: When we have a defensive kick out, start moving around and make space. Create a little chaos and allow an opportune target to grow. Do not stand like a stick in the mud.

Focus for the forwards: Create leads, I know it didn’t come down to you much yesterday but please for everyone’s sanity (including your own) make a lead so the mid’s and defenders have something to kick to when the ball eventually gets your way. This will make it easier for you to get a shot for goal and easier for the defenders to find a way to get the ball to you. This effectively solves two problems.

Little changes by everyone will transform this side.

I feel this game is gonna be ugly.
St kilda are gonna know if they work hard they have a good chance of rolling us.

The perfect storm for essington to rear its head. And if they do , if people think this week is gonna be ugly, wait til next week if they lose

I have no faith at all that we will win this.

I think they will roll us.

You can’t drop SMack and not bring in another ruck. Are you planning on putting Stringer in there again?

SMack didn’t have a good game. His timing and touch were way off. He really could’ve used that 2nd JLT game. However he is a confidence player, and I think you have to give him another week, and at least he is fit.

You can’t have one change after a performance like that, especially throw a kid to the wolves. He may not come back from that.

You either back them in with no change or make an example of some of the senior players.
I’d choose the latter
Bellchambers out for ZClarke
McKernan out for Draper (they can tandem ruck/forward)
Guelfi for Parish
Baguley for Laverde
Merrett for DClarke

Merrett is absolutely underdone, a terrible decision to play him round 1.

Its round 2 and I don’t give a FK already.

This club sucks the life and enthusiasm out of you. I reckon the saints will do us too

Easily. I’ll eat my own hat if we get within 40 points.

Don’t you mean…“Victory Bacon or Losers Cannon”

Season defining game.

…at round 2.

Except even if we win, it doesn’t prove anything.

Agree. Round 3 and 6 are season defining games. And yesterday.

That’s because there is no stat for being soft at the contest and playing loose. Did I mention he was slow…

Our season could be well defined by Round 6.
