ESSENDON

There's plenty of action likely at the selection table for the Bombers after the defeat to Fremantle. Late withdrawals Paul Chapman, David Myers and Dustin Fletcher are all expected to return, as is ruckman Paddy Ryder, who has missed two matches with a sore ankle. The Dons are also hopeful on Brendon Goddard, who tweaked a groin in the warm-up at Patersons Stadium and saw little action. It's unlikely that anyone who played in the VFL win over North Ballarat will get a call-up, given the experienced returnees, but stick-thin small forward Orazio Fantasia put up his hand with four goals.

ST KILDA

The Saints will make at least one forced change this week with Nathan Wright to go out of the side with a broken right fibula that will sideline him for 10-12 weeks. David Armitage is rated a 50-50 chance to play against Essendon after receiving a nasty laceration to his knee against Adelaide that needed stitching. Meanwhile, Adam Schneider picked up 24 touches in the VFL in his return game from a bruised back. Sam Dunell took 10 marks while Seb Ross and Tom Lee kicked three goals each. Jack Billings continued his promising form while Terry Milera kicked two goals – the second of which created a draw for Sandringham. Sam Fisher is a chance to play in the VFL this week after a hamstring injury.

Didn't they say he'd miss two weeks? so would be looking to come back this week or next?

Quads never less than 4
I did a quad once and was back after three weeks.
Take her out of the chair?

According to Doc Reid, Goddard will miss 1-2 weeks when he strained his adductor in the warmup. Paddy still has to pass fitness tests to play.

Chapman, Fletcher and Myers will return.

Pears and Belly back in the VFL this week.

Ambrose and Dempsey back to full training in 2 weeks.

what i got from the interview with Reid was that Ryder is doubtful. which sucks because we need a ruckman.

but the good news is - and I had to replay this four times - was that Reidy said Ambrose would be ready to play Saturday night.  he said something like ''three weeks and a couple of days since his injury on a thursday".

Hmm Doc didn't sound too convincing about Ryder getting up this week. Geez it would be ■■■■■■ handy if Joe and Jake don't have to do much rucking sometime soon!

Ryder and Bellcho to return in the same game at this rate...

will be surprised if goddard plays anzac day by the sounds of things.

Disappointing that Goddard might miss an extra game due to running around on the strain for a quarter. Would suck if he's not there for ANZAC day.

Sounded like Ambrose is about ready to return if I heard that correctly. And Dempsey will be returning soon - but to full training of the VFL I don't know?

Best case scenario for our round 7 match against the Doggies we have:

Goddard, Ryder, Bellcho, Ambrose, Kommer, Demps and of course the more immediately returning Fletch, Chappy and Myers all in the selection mix for either AFL or VFL (e.g. Demps, Kommer and perhaps Ambrose).

Hopefully between now and then we don't cop too much and we can get our heads above water again on the injury front :-)

Long season. Let's hope the majority of our boys are up and running as we go through the July-Sept months!!

Go Dons.

You have no idea if it was the extra running around that will make him miss games. Could be the warm up injury alone.

The article on EFC site says that he aggravated the injury in the first qtr.

If we are giving Bomber credit for resting blokes, then equally we can throw ■■■■ at him for allowing the circumstances that let this one happen.

Might not have made a difference, but at best it was not ideal.

You can bet your bottom dollar goddard will play anzac day, he wont miss it

I reckon belly is a good chance for anzac day

I actually didn't get the joke until you brought attention to it. Hahaha I must have a sick sense of humour cos I had more than a chuckle.

Ah, fair enough then, must have completely missed it.. that is a bit dissapointing

Armitage out now which is handy for us.

If we don’t win this game by atleast 20 goals I am going to rip Rob Kerr’s ■■■■ off.

Who is the ruck for the Saints? Hickey?

How will JC and JD fare?
