I think his son has severe epliepsy and requires quite a high level of care. They have a better support network in NZ. It is why he came home in the first place. I am more curious if Gatland ends up here.
Right. I wasn’t sure if Schmidt’s family were still in New Zealand or not. He became an Irish citizen 10 years ago. As for Gatland coming here - no thanks ! We’d be better off if Gatland went to New Zealand. They’ll probably be trying to get Cheika back…

Sad to see Schmidt leaving so soon.
He had us finally playing good rugby, will always thank him for the win over England at Twickers last November.
So, hearing Ronan O’Gara is keen to chat to RA over the Wallabies job. Had good experience and success with La Rochelle in recent years.
Def worth considering and having a chat with.

Ronan O’Gara. Best fly-half I’ve ever seen. And his goal-scoring was phenomenal, particularly with drop kicks. We could hire him to teach Essendon players how to kick ! He’s been coaching for over a decade now - he’s been head coach of La Rochelle since 2019, which means he’s no donkey. I really hope he gets the job.

Well France put on a show in Dublin yesterday … completely outplayed Ireland in the 2nd half of their Six Nations clash. Those two late tries to the Irish put a sort of respectability to the 27-42 scoreline. Truth was though, the French were well out of sight by the 75’. And Dupont their little scrum half magician was carted off early after a v dodgy Irish clearout to make it seem worse. The French speed and passing were just sublime.Really classy rugby.
The French out Irish’ed the Irish this time. C’est la vie.

Watched the France v Scots game … and it didn’t disappoint Perce (not sure you saw any of it?). Scotland did themselves proud and a disallowed try just on HT was unfortunate. Just rannout of legs in the end but never a step backwards.
France kept them at bay and then hit them a few times for a couple of classy scores. Deserved Six Nations champs.

Big game this weekend vs Lions.
Not sure if Valentini and big Will Skelton are def back and available but if so they’ll make a difference to our squad. Lynagh took a beating at fly half but thought he stood up well. Wish we started with Tate at scrum half, big fan of him. As long as the front 5 can hold the Lions pack we’ll be OK. Our back row imho has a slight edge.
So, crystal ball tells me our boys to squeak home late in this one
