Russia invades Ukraine - 7 - from 10 April 2025

LOL… This Lavrov. He’s hysterical.

Medvedev says, “allow Russia to make war, to rape, pillage, and plunder unchallenged or else… Mushroom Baddaboom.”

This statement “Russia has warned Britain and Nato they will “regret it” if they attempt to shoot down Moscow’s jets in its airspace.”

Obviously, obviously, this Korean flight 007 incident has clearly slipped Lavrov’s mind entirely… “Korean Air Lines flight 007, flight of a passenger jet that was shot down by Soviet air-to-air missiles on September 1, 1983, near Sakhalin Island, Russia, killing all 269 persons on board. It was en route to Seoul from Anchorage, Alaska, when it strayed more than 200 miles (322 km) from its scheduled path and entered Soviet airspace.”

Sure ya do. You’re nothing but a bunch of BRICS.

Wouldn’t a better way to diffuse power be dismantling the Security Council rather than offering two select extra nations a seat?

It’s an interesting article. Lavrov is obviously looking to sway UN opinion by weight of sympathising nations “Alongside Brazil, Lavrov also expressed support for permanent seats for India and South Africa.”.

Ultimately, Russia has power of veto over the UN anyways, so I dunno why they bother,. Well, other than to have a lot of Russian affiliated squeaky wheels all making the same anti Western synchronised noise.

@bigallan was a strong supporter of the UN and the good work it does. Yeah… Me, not so much.

Thus far NATO has had plenty to say, but haven’t backed it up with any action. Poland will not sit idly by, while RU drones take over theirs, and half of Europe’s air space.

Good grief. The lunacy is spreading. The hard won leasons of WW2, now count for very little.

Yes but would be vetoed by ALL the countries that have a veto.

As @Arthurd posted long before he left this thread, Russia should be excluded based on that they should not have automagically inherited the USSR’s seat.

The last Perun video made a good point about this. NATO has a very strong indirect hand to play, they can just give Ukraine massive amounts of money to fund long range weapons via the Ukrainian defence industry.

Example being a 2B Euro transfer this week from the EU to fund Ukrainian drone production.

While l applaud these arrests as further evidence of RU incompetence, OTOH l despair that these leaders might actually be replaced by people who know what they are doing, as in not incompetent. One of these lackies will turn on Vlad at some stage. That no one has tried/succeeded thus far, says a lot bout just how compliant the RU mind set is.

Whilst Nigel Farrage is a cockwomble of the highest order, that article is from 2014.

Pu spells out Ru’s imperialist motivations for the war. He calls the conquest a long-held dream and historical destiny.

He beclowns those who insist NATO expansion caused the war. Let’s see if anyone from the Mearsheimer fan club admits the claim has been falsified.

He talks about great mother Ru, we had to do what we had to do, etc. Not a word about NATO. Pure imperial expansion.

This, ofc, doesn’t surprise me. But every time more evidence piles up, it stirs up my frustration at how many colleagues insist and teach students that Ru was provoked by NATO.
