Might spur Finland to join NATO. If that happens it means there is effectively a single line between Russia/quasi Russian states and NATO nations. Will be very tense, Cold War type scenarios. Very fine margin for error.
But MAD theory will dominate. I don’t see any further actions….unless someone loses their ■■■■ and desires the end of all Human life (looking at you, Vlad you mad ■■■■)
They don’t have the resources to subdue the populace of both Western Ukraine and Poland.
I doubt they’ll be able to handle Western Ukraine really.

I’d chill on that theory, for a number of reasons. Though this assumption is based on reasonable men acting reasonably.

Reckon we (the world) need to take the economic (and Europe the gas) pain on this one now. Completely cut Russia (and Belarus) off from finance, trade, and travel. Complete crippling economic isolation.
Threaten anyone else (China) with similar, if they deal with Russia.
As much as it’d hurt, has to be better than the road we seem to be walking down.
