I’d be very surprised if they became involved in any meaningful way. Not until a NATO nation is invaded, which won’t happen.
Ukrainian media is reporting attacks in five oblasts
The Kyiv Independent is reporting that the State Border Guard Service says it has been attacked in five oblasts.
They say the Luhansk (that’s in the east, in the Donbas region), Sumy (north-east), Kharkiv (north-east), Zhytomyr (north, to the west of Kyiv) and Chernihiv (north, east of Kyiv) oblasts have all been attacked.
The State Border Guard says attacks are also coming from Russian-occupied Crimea in the south.

If I was theorising, from a Western perspective, how Putin could be drawn into a long, bloody and fruitless campaign that could eventually cripple Russia economically and militarily without risking Nuclear war or large numbers of NATO/Western soldiers, Ukraine would not be my choice of battle ground. But….

NATO ambassadors will hold an emergency meeting later in the morning, a NATO official told Reuters on Thursday, after Russia launched an attack on Ukraine.
Earlier, the alliance’s Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg had urged Russia to cease its military action immediately and respect Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Putin has 600 Billion dollars of stolen money stashed away, all over the world.
Freezing these bank accounts is a direct attack on Putin, not Russia. But I imagine it’s just making him more dangerous and more concerned that he will lose his power.
