NBA announced today that they'll be testing HGH from next year.
If a player tests positive for HGH, he will be suspended 20 games for his first violation and 45 games for his second violation, and he will be dismissed and disqualified from the NBA for his third violation.
AFL needs to move to their own system.
A joke that crowley might get 6 months to 2 years for taking a nurofen and a NBA player can be suspended for 20 games (equiv to 5 AFL matches).
WTF? They weren’t testing for HGH before? Must be farking filled with roids that ■■■■■■ competition.
Tbh I wasn’t even aware they could test for HGH at all . . .
Didn’t Barry bonds hat and shoe size increase when he was on Hgh? That’d be enough evidence for ASADA anyway. And any adult player who mysteriously gets braces.
I know of a few guys who have used HGH. Massive, dinner plate sized hands
It’s also the cause of the turtle shell look a lot of pro bodybuilders have due to all their internal organs growing in size

Say basically if they want someone done for HGH they’ll throw up a few numbers and do them for HGH . . . Lol
There are known basic natural levels, and if yours are markedly above those then the assumption (which would be accurate 99% of the time) is that you have artificially boosted yours. There are people who have elevated levels from the norm, but not many, and you don’t make rules based around exceptions. If they are going to police hgh, then that is how it has to be done.
Does anyone know how EPO comes into this? IIRC that’s something that they need to do blood tests for, but do the AFL do any? I’m just thinking of the cleanest sport ever in tennis who do even less blood testing than they do urine…

That could be why they’re the cleanest lol . . .
Also a lot of travelling and interaction with other players and officials makes it harder to systematically dope
Also definitely agree with Boot regarding testing blood levels vs substances. Would be a far better system across the board imo

The urban legend, certainly amongst some Saint supporters, is that 6 Magpie players samples yielded elevated HGH levels after the drawn grand final and…so, they were able to run over the top of the Saints in the replay.

If true, it would have to be behind extremely closed doors
I personally know 2 fitness/medical staff who were with them at that time and they’re anti-steroid fanatics

I work with a medical researcher who also claims to be good friends with Buttifant and says the same thing.
My question is, if they really were doing something on the down low, would the Pies medical staff be telling their friends about it? Probably not.
Just methadone.
Nothing sus. Just a harmless easy mistake to make.
He’s dropped the pharmacist story - someone he knows (apparently someone in allied health) gave it to him for pain relief, as you do with opiates.
From my understanding allied health professionals can’t prescribe drugs. Could be wrong.
Very weird story. He’s either very sus or very very stupid.

Me thinks young Ryan was taking someone else’s meds for ‘recreational purposes’, got pinched, and has found someone to cover his ■■■■ for him.

Had a look at the Pharmaceutical Benefit Scheme website just now. Methadone (brandname Physeptone) oral can be prescribed by medical practioner and nurse practioner for treatment of severe pain not responding to traditional non narcotic analgesics. Length of treatment and repeats restrictions applies.
Was Crowley given his tablets without a proper prescription? In which case, the nurse practitioner or allied health professional is in a world of trouble also.
