Ryan Crowley Tested Positive

He should have been confronted and suspended after a first positive test.

They do dozens of lectures & classes about PEDs and other drugs. If nothing sunk in to Crowley (or Saad, I guess he's a slightly less cut and dried case as he'd only been in the league 2 years or so) then it's on him. No sympathy.
Particularly as our saga was probably entering month 18ish at the time. In the midst of all that, why would you go off site for a jab?

Exactly.
He’s either spectacularly stupid, or he knew exactly what he was doing.

so how does it take 6 months to return the results from July 13 2014 ?

and it is returned after the finals

surely, if any of the media had a spine they would dig on this stench

so how does it take 2 years…

You don't think a painkiller would enhance performance?

Can’t wait for the day steak is banned because it fuels, and therefore enhances, an athlete’s performance

Food is an enabler.

Where do you draw the line between enabler and enhancer?

Somewhere around cortisone it would seem. The whole thing is farcical.

Sales of Nutri Grain might go down, too

airs ■■■■■■ then

Now they are saying that the delay on crowley’s hearing is because of Essendon’s case? What, they can only do one at a time? Fkn joke

If he got a pain killing injection without the club knowing and without the clubs ok, then he is an utter moron. Surely after all the stuff we have been through players would be extra careful about what they are putting into their bodies

This has still yet to be explained?
Was the pain killer administered and approved by a club official or not?

Not sure if you are extracting the urine or not, but this has definitely been answered. Fremantle made it clear when they made the announcement on Monday.

Fremantle CEO Steve Rosich addressed the media moments ago, saying the banned substance was "contained in a painkiller". The president said the painkiller was not prescribed by a Fremantle doctor

You don’t find that explanation a bit odd?
It’s game day and you are feeling a bit of pain so instead of ringing your team doctor you decide to do your own thing on the side without consulting any team official?
I can understand if it’s during the week or on a day when you aren’t at the club, but game day is another matter.

He tested positive on game day, doesn’t mean he took the drug on game day. He might have taken one the day before and still had some in his system or he may have got a prescription during the week and then taken the pill morning of the game.

First positive press he’s had

Hiding an injury from the coach? That’s my guess.

And NFL players with a life expectancy of 55 or 60. Can’t tell me that’s right.

Bodyweight of a lot of the players plays a big part imo

Painkiller could be an opioid, but I'm buggered if they're performance enhancing.
Some painkillers have other things in them. For eg, the new Panadol Extra has caffeine (which is no longer prohibited). Some tablets may have an antiinflammatory (ibuprofen, paracetemol) plus an opoid (codeine) plus a stimulant (psuedoephedrine). Psuedo is certainly banned on match day. Some have muscle relaxants or sedatives (i.e. mercyndol forte contains doxylamine).

Some may have steroids in them too for various purposes such as anti-inflammatory.

And this is just my knowledge from reading up on the drugs I’ve been given for my various injuries and broken bones…

It’s entirely possible that he’s taken a painkiller that contained a banned substance. That’s in no way absolves him of responsibility. Indeed, it makes him more culpable IMO. If Saad got two years for an over the counter energy drink then someone taking prescription or behind the counter pain meds should absolutely be considered just as if not more culpable.

For heavens sake Zeb, give the mongrel a break. Lets wait and find out what he took.
We have been through 2 years of hell on did they, didn’t they with our own boys . Look upon it as if it was one of ours. Lets hear the full story. Having said that I won’t be sorry he won’t be playing against us.

Sorry wasn’t having a go at him or calling for blood but can see how it looks that way so I’ll cop it on the chin

article on afl site listing the best weight lifters at each club lists ryan crowley as the best lifter whose increased strength has really helped his game over the past couple years.

nice spin filter afl.

NBA announced today that they'll be testing HGH from next year. If a player tests positive for HGH, he will be suspended 20 games for his first violation and 45 games for his second violation, and he will be dismissed and disqualified from the NBA for his third violation.

AFL needs to move to their own system.

A joke that crowley might get 6 months to 2 years for taking a nurofen and a NBA player can be suspended for 20 games (equiv to 5 AFL matches).

WTF? They weren’t testing for HGH before? Must be farking filled with roids that ■■■■■■ competition.

Didn’t Barry bonds hat and shoe size increase when he was on Hgh? That’d be enough evidence for ASADA anyway. And any adult player who mysteriously gets braces.
