A “PROMINENT” group of Richmond members, including two premiership players, is calling for a spill of the club’s board.
Details are scarce this morning, with the group set to unveil its identities and plans today, after a press release titled “Success or Failure Starts at the Top” was circulated.
“A new group of prominent Richmond Football Club identities including two premiership players is calling for a spill of the RFC board, declaring it’s high time the focus of the club returns to its core business - winning football and contesting premierships,” it states.
The group says it will unveil its “new plan for football at Richmond” at 11am and further ticket details at Leo Berry’s Boxing Gym in Richmond.
“It’s going to be an interesting meeting, because at face value the only thing Richmond isn’t doing at the moment is wining games of football and winning premierships,” former Essendon captain Tim Watson said on SEN this morning.

“Every club is fuelled by emotion - I think there’s a lot of anger within Richmond as they look at a rebuild.”
“They’ve got 70,000 members, they’ve got money … they market themselves incredibly well as a team here in Melbourne.
“I think probably the agitators will be more about the way the board have gone about making their decisions, primarily about the on-field leadership in recent times.”
“This is the last thing any club wants.”
The Herald Sun reported last month that property developer Joe Russo had been planning a board challenge, which he subsequently withdrew.
The Tigers won just eight games this season, finishing at 13th on the ladder.
