this group wants them to get back to core their business as a footy club. I don’t get it. From what I’ve seen, Richmond’s core business for the past 30 years has been mediocrity and instability. Business as usual
I don’t have anything against Richmond per se, but the incessant media circle jerk any time they win two games in a row, and the insufferable nature of a few of their more high profile supporters means watching them fall apart is one of my favourite football traditions.
I’ll preface this by saying I have no idea about business whatsoever, but why when a team isn’t performing on the field does the board need to be spilled? Those old farts on the board aren’t the ones squibbing contests and missing goals. How about a “prominent” group of members and past premiership players call for a spill of the playing list instead.
Or is it all just optics? Someone has to be help accountable for our lack of on field success and we’ll begin with the people that don’t have a hand in how the team is performing.

The board spill is usually a reflection that the Board is too cosy, too easy or too friendly with the CEO and unwilling to move them on or set targets.

How many times in the past has a board spill and a new administration actually been of benefit to a club? I can’t think of too many. Personally it is amusing, and nobody does this better than Richmond, but these challengers are usually emotive, and that is how they try and garner support, but emotion is what is least needed in these situations. Don’t know the inner working of RFC so can’t really comment, but this type of unrest rarely if ever results in a better outcome for that particular footy club.
