I wonder if it is part of the cumulative effect of concussion?
Looked like a seizure. A rapid involuntary uncontrolled movement of the arms and legs
According to Wikipedia,
Seizures happen in 1 of every 10 people who have a TBI that required hospitalization. The seizure usually happens where there is a scar in the brain as a consequence of the injury.
During a seizure there is a sudden abnormal electrical disturbance in the brain that results in one or more of the following symptoms: Strange movement of your head, body, arms, legs, or eyes, such as stiffening or shaking.
Unresponsiveness and staring.
Chewing, lip smacking, or fumbling movements.
Strange smell, sound, feeling, taste, or visual images.
Sudden tiredness or dizziness.
Not being able to speak or understand others.
Richmond glossed over it, but tbh, its not like anything I have ever seen before on the footy field.
Doesn’t sound right to me.
Those arm/leg/body/head ‘strange movements’ aren’t supposed to be all simultaneous and coordinated, as in ‘marking a ball’ - which is exactly what it appeared he was doing. Nope, I reckon it was a delayed concussion of sorts.
I think we are talking about the same thing Deckham. A concussion is a mild TBI ( traumatic brain injury). A seizure might trigger a strange involuntary movement. Who says it cannot trigger a “learned muscular sequence” such as going for a mark.
I must admit I haven’t watched Richmond in any pre-season games (I’ve only watched little bits of our games), but based on previous years and their off-season recruiting, I don’t see why people are expecting them to make the 8.
I reckon they overachieved a bit to make the 8 the last few years and once a few of the developing teams step up the Tigers will be overtaken easily.
I can see them getting to the Dream time game with their coach already under a lot of pressure. Hopefully we can make things even harder for them.

As far as I’m aware, Vickery would have to be the first person in recorded human history to perform learned muscular sequences during a seizure
Not impossible, just highly improbable

Yes agree, very overhyped & overrated club & team. Their list reminds me of the FC list a few years ago when they had Judd, a few high draft picks which they relied on, & then not much else. If their ‘stars’ didn’t fire they were no chance as is the case with the Tiggies. The tiger ‘stars’ have hit their peak and once their output diminishes a little they will head south to join FC.
Kudos to Hardwick wanting to protect players in a ‘who cares game’ of sort and want the game cancelled. Nothing on the line apart from the AFL’s pocket lining maybe losing a few coppers.
AFL cant do anything to Richmond as rules state they need a minimum of 14 players on the field and maximum of 18. They had 15 so suck it.

Surely they can charge him with the “bringing the sponsors into disrepute” clause?

Incorrect. It could be automatism which can often occur in complex partial seizures, a form of temporal lobe epilepsy. Automatism may be simple gestures or more complex behaviour like “sleepwalking”.
In a grand mal seizure the patient cannot stand due to increased muscle tone, loses conciousness & then has the violent clonic muscle contractions.
Maybe it was a confusional state related to concussion or a complex partial seizure. I hope he’s ok.

Yep. Theres this thing called the “tiger train”
It crashed at the end of the season in 2014
It crashed again maybe less spectacularly in 2015.
Make sure you pack a hammer in your bag if you board the tiger train in 2016.
The script plays out like this: The press reckons Dimmers head is on the chopping block by Round 6, then the Tiger train is better than the Orient Express by Round 18. On the Monday after the first week of the finals, the players are all ■■■■■■ as newts and mad as cut snakes. Dimmer lives again because the Tiges finished in the 8

Yep hahaha spot on, and the media just loves to fuel it talking them up all the time… Can’t wait for it again in 2016
Is there a bigger spud than Dylan Grimes playing regular senior football? Never rated this guy & he’s stinking it up against a poor forward setup tonight. If Richmond are to take the next step IMO, they need the likes of Grimes playing VFL footy most of the year. Depth player only IMO.

It's ok, Hurley will take over from him next season according to Robbo.

Total cheat too, the way he telegraph's his ducks it's incredible the chumps don't pay them against him.
Said it before and i’ll say it again ( i mostly said it about us, but people just assumed i was being “negative” cos it’s about essendon).
But middle of the road clubs like richmond atm can not pick and choose when they turn up to play, and expect to make top 4, or even go deep into finals.
They’ve shown when they come switched on prepared for a fight, they can match pretty much any side in the comp. When they aren’t switched on and ready to work hard, god they make some ■■■■ aweful decision and skill errors.
top 4 sides of previous decade can get away with it, as they know what’s required come september, and they plan it so they are hitting peak form then, Teams like the hawks, sydney, Freo is getting to that stage and with the recruiting of geelong you’d say they are about the only 4 sides who have earnt the right to take games easy.
Richmond, north etc haven’t earnt that right, and they pay for it at the business end of the season. Cameron ling said it perfectly before the game, If richmond has grown from previous years, they’d come out and absolutely smash carlton, to make a statement.
They barely got away with a win.
Way to much of a soft underbelly, not only in richmond, but middle of the road teams who sneak a few high profile wins, and somehow thinks that makes them king ■■■■.
We’re Carlton that good or Richmond that bad, I can’t tell?
I remember Thompson saying that good side find a way to win even when they play poorly. Tigers got the win so I that’s not a bad thing. Wouldn’t want to many games like that this year!
What are the odds Dimma is sacked by the end of the year? Even with the injuries they had they should’ve stitched up that game on Friday even if they were are only aspiring for 9th position.
"The coach said vice-captain Brett Deledio had not progressed with his recovery from a quadricep injury this week and was still only able to kick with a children’s size football. "
