Strewth, that looks bad. I hope he is OK. Regardless who he is or plays for, that is a situation I wouldn’t wish on anybody.
Well, except maybe Sam Mitchell.
Does not look good at all
Nothing I haven’t seen numerous times out on the town on a Saturday night, that said it is usually the blind turn that brings the wanna be hero unstuck.
In all serious though, not what you like to see on any football field.
What I can't believe is that the AFL forced them to put players back onto the ground
What if Richmond genuinely had 10 injured players? Massive law suit if the players got injured further
I don’t think those players were actually injured, not in the true sense, Richmond were trying to rest by claiming injury.
I understand that, but who decides whether a player is fit to take the field or not? Club or AFL?
He pulled like ten guys off the ground onto the bench for a rest with less than ten minutes to go only and had 12-15 on the ground final 5 minutes. They had 5-6 minor injuries plus he wanted to keep cotchin martin reiwoldt rance in cotton wool.

Is it even ‘legal’ to not have a full team on the ground?
anyone watch the game ?
how did rioli go, brief glimpse of a replay i saw him bursting away from a port guy and kicking a goal, all bar vickery marking on the line , from outside 50.
could this be rioli mk2 and we missed out yet again.
Rioli showed a few cameos. Missed a easy set shot from 30. Out on the full. Commentators love him already. Tigers crowd right behind him. That one you saw would have been a nine pointer if vickery let it go thru. I thought he played well early and them faded as most kids do. Should get a good crack at some games during the season with his talent. Seemed to have good forward positioning, speed and reading of the play. Hardwick would love having yarran in back half and him in forward half.

They also tried to get the AFL to call off the game but Mark Evans said no.
Sins of the Father? Exodus, Deuteronomy, whats that all about ?
In the Sun today front page article about Dustin Martins father. It is suggested that he might be deported due to alleged links to organised crime.
Given that Dusty grew up with a (role model ) parent like that one cannot help wondering how he might have turned out if he was the child of a turkey baster and a lesbian couple . Probably one with body art that advertised less of a “dont come anywhere near me” warning, I suspect.
Conjecture aside, I am actually starting to feel a bit of sympathy for Dustin Martin.

I wonder if it is part of the cumulative effect of concussion?
Looked like a seizure. A rapid involuntary uncontrolled movement of the arms and legs
According to Wikipedia,
Seizures happen in 1 of every 10 people who have a TBI that required hospitalization. The seizure usually happens where there is a scar in the brain as a consequence of the injury.
During a seizure there is a sudden abnormal electrical disturbance in the brain that results in one or more of the following symptoms: Strange movement of your head, body, arms, legs, or eyes, such as stiffening or shaking.
Unresponsiveness and staring.
Chewing, lip smacking, or fumbling movements.
Strange smell, sound, feeling, taste, or visual images.
Sudden tiredness or dizziness.
Not being able to speak or understand others.
Richmond glossed over it, but tbh, its not like anything I have ever seen before on the footy field.

the medical staff, if they say no then it is no, if they say it is okay then it is okay, the clubs and the AFL abide by the medical staff’s determination
Just because you’ve got a few injuries, that is no excuse for trying to get a game abandoned or play with less than 18 when you’ve got 4 fit blokes on the bench. If they genuinely had injuries and they only had 16 or 17 fit players, fair enough. The Tigers looked like idiots given the carry on. Perhaps this is a sign of the pressure on Hardwick? I know he’s about to pen a contract extension, but as we’ve seen in the past, they aren’t worth the paper they’re written on sometimes. If they start the season 3-6, which is quite possible given who they play early doors (Pies, Crows, WCE in Perth, Dees, Power, Hawks, Swans), the heat will be on.

If the player turns out OK it was the AFLs call cos they’re all over player welfare; if the player is injured then it was the clubs call. Keep up!
I personally think it’s insane to extend his contract at this point. Why not wait a few months and see how things are going. There is zero chance he’ll be poached over the next few months so why extend now? Lot’s of risk and no reward.

Doesn’t sound right to me.
Those arm/leg/body/head ‘strange movements’ aren’t supposed to be all simultaneous and coordinated, as in ‘marking a ball’ - which is exactly what it appeared he was doing. Nope, I reckon it was a delayed concussion of sorts.
