Season 2017 - Richmond

I imagine the AFL has a room under Etihad which is like the final scene in Raiders of the lost ark, where there is hundreds of boxes and files marked top secret and never to be opened.

Yes. That’s exactly the same thing.

Scandal, mismanagement, controversy - glad this thread is finally back on topic!

So she actually requested to not proceed with the charges. Interesting.

Rumour is the cops found out that she was the one who posted the image to the interwebs initially

Que? In the Sun today, she still claims to be wronged by the player.

The rethink is usually caused by the “realisation” that her name will be dragged through the courts and media, and she will gain notoriety and not much else. Maybe thats it ?

Seems likely that IT was on the money with his post earlier in the thread.

More likely to be in the same situation as the woman on the recieving end of Martins rage. Pressured into by the league it as it may ‘ruin’ the players career.

Maybe the cops should have piggybacked off the AFL powers as employer and forced the player to waive his privilege against self-incrimination.

AFL integrity Unit to investigate, according to MSM reporting. No doubt AFL will maintain its high standards of integrity in adhering to its obligations under the Privacy Act.

if it is the player that is hinted at then wouldn’t surprise if they threw him under the bus. Hardly a big name and would make an excellent sacrificial lamb.

Think you’re making a broad generalisation about the AFL there.

That could be any one of 17 of the richmond premiership side.

It’s likely a trade off for the woman in question

Drop the charges so it doesn’t drag on, player doesn’t go to jail, and her identity doesn’t become public knowledge.

AFL will punish him directly via fine & suspension. And AFL/Rich probably gave her some folding stuff to let it go.

Go to jail? Really?

Figured it must’ve been a high profile player since we didn’t know who by now.

Yes there was commentary in articles that max penalty could be 2yrs jail for it.

Since when do Victorian judges hand down the maximal penalty?

Not Essendon related, but this is a really interesting read. I actually wouldn’t mind reading the book.
