Season 2019 - GWS

Cogs,Whitfield on 7 year contracts and possibly Cameron

3qrts of thier cap space on 3 players that’s insane

They may be front-ending or back-ending some or all of these deals so it may not be as extreme as it looks from the outside, but yes, a lot of money on a handful of players.

I would imagine there wouldn’t be many clubs in the AFL who could afford two of these players on the open market

Hopefully they feel a cap squeeze where they can’t re-sign some of those young guns

I disagree. I hope they hold their players so we don’t have to see them tear us a new one on ANZAC Day…

All aboard the Zach Williams train.

So is Greene

Hardly…

Right now cap is $12.45mil.

5 x $900k/yr players = $4.5mil

Cap will be up to $13.54mil in 2022.

Maybe not right now but their up and coming young guns will ask for pay rises

Hopper yes please

Nothing against GWS per se, they’ve done a pretty good job of building a team.

But all this sort of talk does is remind me of how compromised the league is.
How much stronger real clubs would be if GC AND GWS didn’t exist.
Which may of course be the point, if you want be to cynical about it.

All for the sake of one extra game per week.

Again, I do think NSW outside Sydney deserves representation. More than Tasmania does.

But still, a sliding doors without the two introduced teams is pretty attractive.

Have always wanted zac williams, tough, good disposal, kicks goals when he goes into the midfield but would have come cheaper than Shiel as he was played off the HBF at GWS. I feel we should have targetted him and made a big offer, could have gotten him for 1 first rounder and less money.
