Season 2020 - GWS

The correct word is “ground”.

And, sure, they’re 150m wide, except when they’re not.
(Kardinia is 115m, Subiaco 122m, AO is 124m, etc etc)

A 400 metre track is around 20m thinner than the the thinnest pitch we have…
There will be very few stadiums on the west coast that will match the dimensions of the thinnest AFL pitch.

LA’s a tiny place though, right? Can’t possibly be a “pitch” that’s escaped Blummers’ attention.

No need to be snarky. It’s a discussion.
At least you now know that a running track isn’t the same width as an AFL ground.

It’ll be interesting to see what compromises they take should it actually go ahead.

I thought the issue with west coast of USA is not the size of grounds, but that they have fake grass which is no good for footy?

The LA Dragons must play somewhere.

NFL grounds, sure, I doubt all grounds are artificial.

And I’ll throw it out there, 10k seats should be fine for GWS v GC

… in Australia.

He’ll achieve this and more …
By the time his career ends and after his AFL assisted transfer to captain the Gold Coast as part of the AFL’s rescue package that sees Gold Coast get to choose the top two talent from every other club.
It’ll make the Lions assisted 3-peat from the early 2000’s look mediocre.

Don’t make me yes_thats_the_joke.jpg you

… in a final.

The US is a friggin’ stupid market to try to crack first on any level.
Arena is one aspect but it’s way down the list.

They’re overloaded with sport.
How many national league teams does LA have?
Six?
More?

J-Berg and Osaka.
Every friggin’ day of the week.
NZ is the Tasmania of international footy.

Why does football have to go to America anyway?

There should be a non-AFL affiliated, set up by I don’t know who, to consider big thoughts like this and knock them back.

Stop thinking about where the game might be developed and think more about the hospitality junkets available to Gill and the Club President in any given location.
So China - tick
LA - tick
Paris or Tokyo- probable tick

NZ, South Africa, Tasmania aren’t renowned for free flow champagne escorts & drugs - never happen.

The issue of ground sizes and actual audiences are irrelevant

NZ is too small and they aren’t interested enough in anything other than rugby for it to be worthwhile.

I may have been misconstrued when I said NZ are the Tasmania of international football.
I meant they’re too small to bother with, not that they deserve a team just because they play a bit of footy there.

I think India…is where footy should go, internationally.

But make the game free entry. and try and pack out one of the cricket stadiums.
Think that would get international media exposure…
over a junket to LA, where not many people except expats are interested.

LA Game should be a preseason friendly match if they are desperate for it.

Hard to argue with the sensibleness of that.

But screw sense, let’s make this happen.
