Really looked like a deer in the headlights. Must be hard fronting the press with only about 25 years of prime time TV experience, 20 years as a sports reporter, and 20 odd years of radio experience.
Poor kid never stood a chance.

I heard Glenn James, former Umpire talk about umpiring at Victoria Park once at a conference on racial abuse.He said that he had asked the President of Collingwood Football Club to direct supporterstone it down, and was told to “go back to his humpy”.
There was a report done for the Australian Human Rights Commission McNamara, “ON THE FIELD AND OFF THE FIELD: Sports and racial hatred”, back in 2001 ; some of it related to Collingwood and Glen James in 1978 Nothing much has changed in 40 years.

And Neon spent his entire career under Mick Malthouse, being drafted in Malthouse’s first draft at collingwood and retiring after Malthouse was shafted by Eddy for Bucks.
I caught up with a mate a few weeks ago, who has been a Collingwood member her whole life. She dropped the membership, last year because she has had a gut full of McGuire.
She said the worst thing is, as soon as you say anything negative about him… you get attacked. It’s blasphemy to even speak Ill of him.
Then the Sidebottom thing came out, straight after McGuire publicly attacked McKenna.
Then the absolute distain for the members by forcing contracted key players out of the club, because they f*cked their list management… and refusing to make any public comment on it.

They did comment on it. Said it was part of “rejuvenating the list by hitting the draft”
Forgive me, I’m one of those aging Gen Xers who still feels like 1990 was 10 years ago.

My mind is trying to get my head around it being a real quote (still not sure it could be) and knowing that he claimed the Sidebottom thing was from drinking a type of alcohol he hadn’t tried before. The pain killers were talking. He was only joking about Goodes. They vetted the Sarah call. And that today is a proud day for a club that isn’t rascist.
