Season 2024 - Fark Carlton

Besides wearing the wrong jumper, Docherty seems like a thoroughly decent human being who has been dealt some pretty horrendous hands in his career. Hope he rehabs well and gets a clear run at it next year and for however many years he has left on a list.

Always pays to know what you’re talking about before you start questioning others.

I dont have an encyclopaedic knowledge of everything believe it or not, so not sure a playful sledge of a rival player hurtling his knee makes me the devil. I apologised, wished him well so no real need to kick me again. I get it.

Best wishes to Docherty. Decent human by all accounts. Been a tough career for him.

As always, Farkcarlton

Fark Carlton.

Muched loved but wont hurt the blues him missing imo

Wrong again, Docherty when he is up and about is one of their best defenders, reads the ball beautifully, intercepts often and sets them up from HB. If Martin can replicate for us, what Docherty does, we will be well served.

Why Carlton’s best is ‘better than anyone else’ in the competition

Sam McClure is feeling good about his pre-season prediction on Carlton, saying only a playing group as talented as theirs could complete a comeback like the did against Brisbane on Friday night. The Blues battled back from a 46-point deficit to post…

McClure, who said on 3AW in February that Carlton should be premiership favourites, still believes Carlton’s best form is better than any other side in the competition.

“Their best is better than anyone else’s (form in the competition),” he told Wide World of Sports.

“To be able to come from 50 points down, you need some special players and they have a number of them.

Listening to Hoyney from CD tonight on SEN.
Apparently the Blues have 2 of the worst Inside 50 kicks in the league.
Neither of the 2 names are a surprise.

Matt Kennedy is No.1 worst which probably isn’t surprising for an inside mid that often has to hack it forward.
(Rowell is also in the Top 10)

The other is Sam Walsh which doesn’t surprise me at all.
Very fine player but scrappy by foot.
He was in the Top 5.

A couple of names in the Top 10 were a surprise.
Noah Anderson was one that I wouldn’t have factored.

We have a player in the Top 10 (worst) also that will have people lose their sh*t at CD !

Problem with that stat (IMHO) is that players who simply get more looks at that final kick inside 50 through being ball magnets and elite readers of the play like Walsh and Rowell, will naturally see their percentages drop away aa their base number increases. More attemps, less accuracy.

The better players find the footy and get it heading into F50 (often under pressure) that’s why stars like Rowell, Anderson and Walsh (and probably Merrett) appear to fall out on the wrong side of that statistic.

It’s similar to the clanger stats- chock full of absolute elite players in that list too.

I’m sure they’d be going by averages though, not totals.

FTR, the 2 Best for this season are Ed Richards and Dan Houston.
Nic Martin was in the Top 10 (best).

But the average ‘hit’ is going to be lower the more shots you have. Think about a sharp shooting goalkicker who has ten shots at goal from 40 out right in front. He could well nail all 10 no worries 100% effective. But if that player has 200 shots, you would expect some attrition to the perfect 100% record.

I hear ya on that point, which is why Houston being No 2 probably doesn’t mean that much as how many times has he delivered I50 compared to Ed Richards ?..probably far less, so there isn’t enough Data.

You could probably say the same for Martin.
