If you are going to win a final, more often that not you have to beat a good team. It’s not like WE can play Essendon in an elimination final.

We would frequently have Essendon vs Essendon A finals.

Without Hird for most of 1999 we got to the prelim. If he had played in the prelim, we could have been in the GF and possible Premiers.

Hawks have been good won 5 on the trot, including knocking over Lions and Giants, theymight beat the cats, but will be difficult at GMHBA.
But still a hard draw after that Freo, pies, crows, Giants, Blues, Tigers

I stated that they had gone past us 3 weeks ago and some called me crazy. They are probably up there with the Blues in terms of form at the moment.
Hawks just know how to recruit. They haven’t had the same top picks as us, but they have selected the right players.

Mitchell can really coach too. They have already gone past us. They’ll get a couple of big name recruits over the next few years.

Hawthorn are easily the most successful club of the past 50 years and just know how to do thing correctly. Instead of admiring them and following their method, we take the opposite approach. Because we despise them so much we are too ashamed to copy?
