Surprised to see the greatest player we have ever had on our list and let go only finished 10th in the Hawks BnF. Maybe the entire footy world got ahead of themselves when it came to Massimo.

A couple of fit and up and about roosters can cope without a night’s sleep and honour a very ‘family club’ oriented commitment, l would have thought.

Lets get real, he played well in a team that surpassed expectations, but most of the hype was generated by the Champion Data algorithm; we all know how warped that can be! Commentators need to actually watch games.

Mate who’s a junior club secretary let me know essendon did this too.
Club promised 3 players (2 seniors and a first year) and ended up sending 1x first year

25 years ago Sheedy got about 5-6 guys out to school for a clinic. 2 of them superstars.

Having a junior connection helps too.
Mitchell had a couple of close mates he played juniors with still playing at Mooroolbark so they’d often get him down above his “official” commitments.
First time I met him I was probably 17. Can remember wondering how a bloke that short & slow could possibly play AFL lol.
Good to see the family club looking after the young ones at the junior clinic…….Ginnivan the flog and Wizard Watson calling in sick…………gee I hope Ginnivan takes a few young ones at the Dawks under his wing and corrupts them

I didn’t realise parents have to pay for their kids to go to a footy clinic. They used to be free.
In 1992 when playing U15’s in Sale, Jason Dunstall came and took training. He kicked 145 goals that year. Hard to imagine that now.
