Season 2024 - Melbourne

Did you hear the president’s interview? Sorry, it was the big crash of the derailed train the whole episode was.

Yeah. I did.

She obviously wasn’t personally involved in all the discussions and most likely the CEO, HR, Health & Safety Officer &/or Football Department handled everything with Petracca.
It was a typical ‘upper management’ interview. She shouldn’t have done it at all without knowing what’s going on with Petracca. If she had have said, ‘we’re going through a process with him and when we’re ready we’ll let you know’ it would have softened things, but the cycle was already set and rolling. So speculation was going to continue. It stopped on Saturday’s release of information.

But again, my initial comment was about Purple saying this is squarely on Petracca. He should have been the one to set things straight.
He doesn’t need to do anything that the media or us nuffy fans request. He should be doing what he needs to do to his time lines.

Sorry, but adding to daily commentary of reporting that just repeats the same thing over and over is useless unless you have something to actually say.
Unfortunately, the media acts the way we want them to act. And in this instance, Purple was annoyed that it didn’t eventuate the way they speculated it would. They wanted more drama. And so did us nuffies.

Trade period is a month away.
Plenty of time for discussions, decisions and changes of decisions to be made.
Decisions don’t need to be so ‘fixed’ at the moment.

I’ve noticed recently that a lot of these shot cultures have won a GF pretty recently- MFC, HFC, people are roasting McRae now too (but more for being too nice). What bothers me is that the unhealthy culture may help obtain the flag.

Dees are on the nose this year but see what happens in an off season. if it’s a clash of personalities, even one move could make a big difference.

I couldn’t see how them grabbing Hunter would help them, basically kicked out of dogs and into an environment that wasn’t great.

Kate Roffey is stepping down from the Melbourne board.

Roffey to be replaced by Brad Green, who has been serving at MFC as a director. Seems like a case of same ■■■■ different stink to me…

Didn’t he also nearly make it playing cricket for Australia? (Genuine question)

He captained the Australian junior side but I don’t know if he was close to a state second eleven or shield selection level.
He actually did turn down a soccer contract in England because he was homesick as a kid

Can’t find part 2 but actually an interesting read

Matthew Wade was a pretty good junior footballer who would have more than likely have got drafted. But he let cricket get in the way.

Reportedly Green is ordering a performance review of the Board.

I hear there’s a bloke called something-or-other Thorburn who gives good review…
