Season 2024 - Melbourne

I’s love Brayshaw to sue Maynard for ending his career but it wont happen especially with Brayshaw’s history.

Yeah sue a bloke for attempting to smother a ball that he either got a fingertip on or was within millimetres of touching. Hang him too.

Footy is a combative game.

They have tightened things up even further since then so I’m sure you’ll all be pleased with that.

Sad for Angus. Damn good footballer.

He’s got media career written all over him, too. Maybe that has helped him make a health based decision (clear pathway after football).

That’s sad for Angus.

We obviously had a pretty big run at him a couple of years ago. Dodged a bullet which is not our style.

Should’ve come to Essendon when he had the chance. He wouldn’t have even been playing in a final.

Sad to see

Harmes left as they were playing Brayshaw in midfield last year also

Double sting for them

I think your right there, most other players there probably don’t even get the concussion from that knock

I’d be shocked if any other player wasn’t concussed by that hit. It was a real big fkn hit.

This is really unfortunate news for all footy fans, I reckon. I always admired Brayshaw; a very shrewd player, who didn’t showboat, mouth off or take cheap shots. A good dose of skill, too. This is a big blow to Melbourne.

Why do I feel like this is already heading down a path where Goodwin takes the fall and that it gets linked with his time at Essendon so that the general plebs out there don’t demand an asterisk next to Melbourne’s flag?

what maynard did or didn’t isn’t really the issue

the afl have been suspending players based on the outcome of incidents and not the intent for years now

but for whatever reason, they didn’t on that occasion

which (loosely) demonstrates that they don’t really treat concussion risk with any gravity beyond optics

which, knowing what is widely known about repeat concussions now, is top shelf premium gold standard stupid

And the outcome here is that Bradshaw’s career is done.

If they do actually hit Goodie, it will only be to imply that

“He worked in a culture that (provably not true) allowed unregulated injections of performance enhancing substances. How could he have done anything different in the end? It was what he knew. This isn’t an injection program designed to cheat and win games in manner that brings the sport into disrepute, this is partying outside of work that got a bit too much, and blokes like these guys that came out and tried to air his dirty laundry for cheap clicks on the internet, didn’t lift a finger to help and, in fact, made things worse, as we can now see with Smith and Oliver.

Did I get it right?

It’s a can of worms opened. I suspect you’d find a hell of a lot of players would also “fail” that specialized brain scan if put through it. They’ll only use it for those with repeat concussions but virtually every contact will be having some tiny effect.

Being mid 50s I should know that Collingwood supporters are just illiterate Ferals, but hearing them ring up sen today, just reinforced how difficult it is to string two words together for their fans, they’re a bunch of pasties.

It’s frightening. All trying to sound like they have some understanding around the nuances of concussion

You have to be morally bankrupt to support the Collingwood Football Club.

Not fair on pasties

Tough luck for Brayshaw. Same for any player that has to pull the pin through injury. Better luck moving forward.
