Technically not correct. He is suspended from all football until July 22nd. After that date he is able to go to any league that permits late player movements. But to the best of my knowledge he is still on Norths list and will remain so until the end of the season hence why another AFL club can’t pick him up.
Didn’t he just re-sign. What happens to his contract and the cash he was going to be paid?
From a North point of view, rather than the AFL, that seems very dicey indeed.
Can you sack someone and keep them on your books for a year?
I feel like I have to keep reiterating, I’m not on this guy’s side in any way, shape or form.
Just trying to understand the technicalities.
DJR’s explanation made sense to me.
That does not.
He’s in the last year of his contract - presumably some payout has been arranged.
I think it pertains to the fact his upbringing was difficult and lot of his crimes were committed whilst a teenager and they involved family feud stuff before drifting into drugs related issues. He served his jail time and then was able to build a good footy profile over a longish period (6 1/2 years at South Fremantle) before getting a chance at 27.
His latest stuff (theft) is still before the courts I think.
He isn’t on their books. They have paid him out and torn up the contract. He does however remain on their list for now AFAIK
To be fair he didn’t limit his offences to anusing women.
He also got caught speeding on the freeway feet up on the dash last year… when he posted it himself
So every chance he will find some new totally unhinged way to offend
Hero to zero. The kid will get a shock when he goes down to centrelink and gets his first jobseeker payment.
Norths statements and actions around the issue have been very good. I’m not sure all clubs would have delisted him this quickly. Collingwood certainly wouldn’t have (definitely not in the McGuire era). I know their hands are tied, and Clacko is still a ■■■■■■■, but credit where credit is due.
This from Sonja is first class:
"We’ll continue working with the AFL, the Players Association and Tarryn’s manager and his support network to ensure that he gets the help he needs to be better.
"But he won’t play for the North Melbourne Football Club again.
“Out of respect for her privacy I won’t say anything about the woman who brought these allegations to the AFL, other than to commend her bravery and the dignity with which she has handled herself throughout this process. She deserved better.”
To be fair, AFL.
Why should it make sense?
There is a legit chance the AFL haven’t actually worked out the precise details yet…
That has gone very quiet
He stuffed up multiple times last year and was still allowed to play. North were gutless last year and they should have sacked him a year ago. Now that farkwit Sonja comes out and pretends how great and strong they have been as a club. Absolute waffle
He still hasn’t entered his pleas. Got delayed last year to Jan this year and was then adjourned till March 1st
So nothing has happened really
I believe so. Take Yestin Eades for instance. I think its required that the list cannot be changed until the official delisting period. I suppose he will go on the inactive list.
A Melbourne player quit today. Same with him I expect.
Doubt we’ll see him on a list again. Not until 2026 at the earliest. That would have to be a hell of a 2025 season in a state league simewhere too.
He’d need to live the life if a saint between now and then and even then its hard to concieve.
He’s done
I dont work in HR but id be interested to know how common it is for what I assume is domestic or social media abuse like this is raised at an abusers workplace.
And to the point where workplaces get involved and act.
Bit sad all around when you hear stories like this.
Beyond help he sounds like, hope it doesn’t end badly for himself or someone in his orbit.
With SANFL teams all having SANFLW teams I can’t see him coming here and I’d imagine similar in other state leagues. His best chance if he stays out of trouble might be the new Tassie team but he will stuff up again soon it seems
Saves clacko from ever having to go round his house and tell him not to have kids I suppose.
I’ll get me coat.
Its common for all facets of peoples personal lives to be raised and discussed at work, and it frequently involves disciplining the people who have been discussing it becuase it just turns into baseless rumour mongering after a while.
If the concerns are serious enough, and the person gets a conviction, there is a tenuous connection to termination of employment in some circumstances.
I am of the opinion that workplaces should not be getting involved in trying to shape poor behaviour in workers personal lives, unless it has workplace impacts.
I was more meaning a partner or acquaintance contacting a workplace about the behaviour of their employee and then workplaces getting involved rather than other employees talking and rumour mongering.
