Season 2024 - North Melbourne

Of course it is. Does anyone actually think the krakour brothers, after 30 years, finally have decided to give a fk about this? Lol

You could be right @alex.f.94 but how can you prove it one way or another ? It was 1982. If Sheeds and TD come out and say it’s utter nonsense then that’s probably it? Sheeds has an amazing track record with indigenous players. I bet Michael Long will come out and back Sheeds

No you can really prove anything unless there are a few viable and credible witnesses who provide support to the allegations I guess. I just don’t understand why 40 years after the fact such a specific allegation would be made. It’s too specific and directed to be made up.

If it weren’t true (hypothetically) and you wanted to bolster your chances then you throw in big names and it gets attention. Not saying he’s done that - but just giving you a reason why

This is a really good point.

I’d be surprised if many people who were around in those days weren’t casually racist.

It just wasn’t that big of a deal in those days (which is not to devalue the hurt caused at the time to people who were victims of it).

Then I’d just ask them politely to prove their case. If it’s made up, it’ll fall on its face pretty quickly.

If TD, Duckworth or any other essendon player or coach racially abused someone I would really hope they are man enough to apologise for hurt cause.

Moreso if they arent part of the class action.(ie its against the AFL only).

Of course if they didnt then of course object and deny it.

And i think the people on here shitposting about Phil Krakouer and beinf in prison are ■■■■■■■■■.

Its got nothing to do with it

Given the lengths that the AFL media went to to describe Clarko’s racial abuse as “Historical”, I wonder if the same approach will be taken when Essendon players are involved 30 years earlier?

Prehistorical

White line fever. Anyone can be guilty of misdemeanors in the heat of the battle in all walks of life. And more so in years gone by. Today’s education is helping but there wasn’t any 40 years ago.

I can remember how common place racial abuse in the outer was in the 70s and 80s. it’s not hard to believe the players engaged in it as well.

my dad was called a wog and all sorts of things when he came to australia surely there is some statute of limitations with this stuff?

It doesn’t even need to be that. It’s not hard to believe that Sheedy would instruct his players to use ‘any means available’ to get under the skin of an opposition player to put him off his game. I’m sure this extended to things like sexual preference, or physical appearance etc. There were no lines that couldn’t be crossed back then.

That doesn’t make it right, of course.

The claims are hardly ‘unbelievable.’ But will they stand up in a class action, and should they? That’s for smarter people than me to sort out.

Man, this football club is so good at making news headlines for everything other than “Essendon is successful on field.”

Why is this Sheedy racism stuff coming out now isn’t there a statue of limitations for these kind of things?

People probably want Sheedy canceled now that’s the world we live in.

I’ve wanted Sheedy cancelled for several years

Might as well boot him out the AFL HOF and strip Essendon of it’s 4 flags that Sheedy won

AFL “Sorry Terry you are no longer a premiership player because you were coached by a racist”

Was being sarcastic but that’s how bad society is cancel culture can get farked
