I don’t think NM are in an awful spot. They still need stuff to go right for them around player development but they have far fewer holes now.
Xerri, Larkey, Sheezel, Comben all are, or could be, A grade talent. Finn O’Sullivan has shown signs early, and Wardlaw would be in that mix of his body holds up.
Next step down: Zurhaar, Curtis, Powell. Maybe Archer. I have McKercher here at the moment too, but he could push up into the next bracket.
There is enough there they can start building a solid team around.

Their actual list seems ok, but then I watch them play and it just doesn’t make sense. They almost seem scared to win and try and take the game forward.
Sheezel is a gun but atm he doesn’t hurt the opposition. He is lumped in with Daicos but Daicos wins games for Collingwood. I also think as a team they just lack cohesion.
I think it’s likely that time and confidence resolves it, but I wonder if there will be a bit of a lost generation due to the inability to win and the mindset being a bit ingrained to the club.

I think it’ll sort itself out. The last quarter vs Melbourne didn’t seem a side unwilling to push a game forward, so I don’t think that is a huge issue.
I reckon they’ll just be very hot and cold this year. They’ll turn in some ■■■■ games like they did vs Sydney, but they’ll also beat a couple of decent teams.
Richmond are death-riding Gorth this year, so as much as I never, ever want to lose to that stupid club, at least there’s a a silver lining if it happens this year.
