When they reappointed him they specifically said it was into the 2026 season, and not for the 2026 season. Most people and journos either missed it or ignored it. They can sack him anytime without penalty

I very much doubt the contract is actually written that way, but I’m pretty sure a stack of people (including me) immediately posted about the weak statement.

How does it help with walker unless they get the spoon? They will have to match the pick where it comes.

They will most likely finish bottom 5 and so could still end up with an end of first rounder compo. So yes, it will cost them a top 5 pick but they will still have a first

I think Voss was desperate to keep his job so he would have signed on to anything. Remember Brendan Bolton, didn’t have a contract, put on as a staff member so they could give him the flick without a payout.

Walker and Cochrane are most likely pick 1 and 2 so if they are bid on as expected and Fark Carlton finish bottom 5 then they would get end of first round compo

I think having coaches not on contract and just on a pay roll is better imo

Means clubs can flick the coach any time with out wasting millions on a pay out

Not sure if the AFL has thought about or clarified what happens if you finish bottom 5 and have to match a bid.

I don’t think they would get the end of round compo. That would be two bites of the cherry. The rule is meant to protect you for having your pick pushed out not come in.
