I hate to keep going in to hype mode but what Bellingham is doing is just insanity. In his first Clasico, at Barcelona, with Real Madrid lucky to be just a goal down, he shoots (with incredible deliberation, mind you) from way outside the box, off one step, with so much power that the ball nearly rips the net.
Then, in the 92nd min, he is in the perfect position to tap in the winner.
I bought a Bellingham jersey in July once my then favorite Real player, Marco Asensio left for PSG.
Just to be clear - the award is for the 2022/23 season (not the calendar year) which he obviously played at PSG and had the equal most assists of anyone in Europe. His goals/assists in all competitions was more than Haaland. He had a very good season, but the crux of the matter is, the award includes the World Cup where he led his nation to the title, picking up 5 out of 7 man of the matches along the way.
Haaland had a phenomenal season and would also have been deserving but not being at the world cup cost him.
Mbappe also has a great season and a great world cup.
De Bruyne and Rodri are less spoken about due to being midfielders, but their influence on City winning the treble would be similar to Haaland.
I think you could make an argument for any of the above, but the majority of players, coaches and journalists seem to believe it was Messi and that’s who the journalists voted for.
Next season (and beyond) will be interesting- Mbappe, Haaland, Bellingham, even Vini Jnr if he can refind his form, or De Bruyne if city continue to dominate. It probably will come down to Euros.
Great to see Juve back in the mix this season and even better seeing Milan struggling.
Inter still look the best team this year from what I’ve seen but long way to go
Yeah, plenty of depth in that squad unfortunately. Just hope we can stick with them for as long as possible and see what happens. They haven’t got too many weaknesses at all though
Jose Mourinho sacked by Roma. Continues the trend of never having spent more than three seasons at any club during his managerial career. Obviously he managed Chelsea twice, but never lasted longer than 3 seasons in either stint. Says a fair bit…
