If the endangering life charges are dropped what is the likely penalty? Will they get jail or a slap on the wrist and home detention in their Toorak mansions?

I expect they are making as much noise as possible in the hope that they can get as good a deal as possible for a guilty plea to one or a couple of the less serious charges. And you can bet theyāll have the best silks in town on the case.

Defence lawyers threatening to talk a lot in court to get a deal for their client is not how it should work.
If the evidence strongly supports a guilty verdict for the most serious charge then that charge should be pursued. Especially if there is a considerable difference between the sentences.
Itās like deliberately running a red light on a right hand turn and seriously injuring someone and you plead guilty to not using the indicator.
I donāt disagree. But prosecutors like certainty and hate embarrassment

Itāll be interesting how this case plays out.
my sister is currently studying law and doing a clerkship with a prominent QC. Some of the stories she tells about what goes on on both sides of the law are completely depressing.
No outcome from all this would surprise.

AFL hands out five-year bans to fighting fans
THE AFL has taken a strong stance against violence at games, handing out five-year bans to the four fans involved in a fight at last weekās Carlton and Collingwood clash.
All four of the patrons will be prohibited for attending any AFL game until the middle of May, 2024.
The Leagueās general counsel Andrew Dillon said the AFL condemned ugly incidents like last Saturday at the MCG.
āPart of the of fabric of our game is you can go to the footy and sit with family and friends from your club and opposition fans, in a safe and welcoming environment,ā Dillon said in a statement.
āThe benchmark is clear. If you come to the football and act like this recent example, you will be held accountable.ā
The League has warned the banned fans if they attempt to attend a game or are found inside a venue they face further bans.
Carlton identified two of the banned fans as Blues members, and have revoked their memberships. Blues chief executive Cain Liddle supported the AFLās decision.
āViolence of any kind has no place at the football or indeed society as a whole,ā Liddle said.
āThe actions of a handful of individuals on Saturday were appalling and will never be tolerated at our football club. For those who would remotely contemplate engaging in such behaviour, our response is simple ā you are not welcome.ā
There have been several violent incidents at AFL games in the early stages of this season.
