Shaken not stirred- all things Bond

For me I still think it’s You only live Twice with a toss up between Goldfinger and Dr No for next best.
For the later films I think Spectre is the best

Hmm I have to admit I enjoy watching the Roger Moore ones the most. Live and Let Die is probs my favourite. But Goldfinger is defo up there.

Ok since we are completely off topic here

How about the best vs worst Bond theme music…

I’ll start off with 2 iconic ones…
Live and Let Die- set up Bond for the 70’s with a modern rock take on the traditional theme.
Goldfinger- Shirley Bassey belting out “GOLD- FING GAHH” is just perfect.

Oh dear, … always thought Moore was the worst Bond. :no_mouth:

Brosnan next worst.

Actually, he was the one Ian Fleming wanted from day dot. He apparently never liked Connery for the role- thought he was a Scottish thug. It;s just by the time Sean retired as he felt too old for the part, Roger took over- and he was actually older! So he played it more for laughs.

Good that he stuck to writing and what he knew then…

Moore had been the Saint {meh}, & played opposite Curtis in The Persuaders which he wasn’t bad in, … but without Connery, I don’t think Bond becomes “Bond”, IYKWIM.

Yeh, fair call, ( and I think Connery is still the best Bond for a multitude of reasons). BUT, the Moore of the Saint era, ( early-mid 60’s) would have made an impressive Bond. We just got him 10 years too late.

Live and Let Die
A View To A Kill
For Your Eyes Only
These were the best for me.

See, that’s where I disagree, … as The Saint he was less than convincing for mine. He looked like me and my 7 yr old friends pretending to shoot someone playing Cowboys, … everytime he shot his little gun, I expected to hear him going pewww peww, … peww peww peww.

I think he looked similar with a Gun in his hand as Bond tbh, … like he’d never held or actually shot one.

Hey, we’ll have to agree to disagree. I thought Moore had a rakish slightly not quite pure vibe in the Saint that would have translated rather well.
BUT, I still prefer Connery after all that. He was easily the most menacing Bond.

Roger Moore was also the English cousin, Beau, in Maverick about that time.

Maybe one of the computery-techy mod types that oversee all this madness we can Bomberblitz could morph this discussion into an “all things Bond”, or “Shaken not stirred” thread. I feel kinda bad it’s taken over the celebrity death one.

You can start one. Don’t be shy.

Dont laugh, I wouldnt know how!
or I most certainly would.

Conversely I think they have aged like fine wine, bar Die Another Day.

Goldeneye is up there in the top 5 category.

Tomorrow Never Dies with Elliot Carver (read Rupert Murdoch) as the villain is as topical as ever and Jonathan Pryce plays him superbly.

The World Is Not Enough is a bit hit and miss, but upon rewatch, it is infinitely better than some, with impressive set pieces and settings.

The worst are, IMO, the Craig movies (except Casino Royale). They are boring, the villians are fkg all the same and the locations legit all look the same, just brown, dusty run down villas somewhere in Africa/ Spain. Everything about them is conservative. They operate in an alternate reality and don’t really have any connection to current world events for fear of causing offence to those Bond is battling.

People say Bond has become a relic, spies are no longer required and that’s why its changed into just another generic action flick. ■■■■ that. Give me a Bond Movie where he infiltrates North Korea or ISIS and tell me espionage is dead. If the producers really wanted to take a risk they could go back in time and make one set in the cold war era again.

At least with even the poor Moore movies, you can sit back and laugh at how fkg stupid they are. The Craig ones have no redeeming features and need to be jettisoned ASAP.

Anyway excuse the rant, need something to take my mind off work.

Up the top you should see a button “new topic”

its done- time to migrate across!

I dont know how that happened- thanks Blitz gods- but on with the show.
Edit thanks DJR

SOOOO best Bond themes in 3…2…1

Live & Let Die for mine.

Brother had the Redrose Speedway album which I loved, and everytime I hear it, I’m right back there.

Just finished watching You only Live Twice again and man it hasn’t lost anything and still my favourite. Just a shame I watched the crappy Casino Royale before it. I’d ALMOST forgotten how terrible that was
