Looks like a promising young talent, not against the idea of trying to land him at Essendon, but do we really need him? If we play him in the midfield, he could be a future star. But as a defender, we already have a settled back 6 with Steinberg and Gwilt looking to break into the side next year. We already have the best defence in the comp yet we are overflowing with defenders.

Fantasy Football has engulfed the world of AFL with its influence bordering on obsession for many of the game‘s followers. With that in mind, I thought I would take a look back at some of the big performances from AFL-listed players in the second-tier competitions. The efforts listed below have come from the NEAFL and the VFL with no player getting more than 160 fantasy points in the SANFL or WAFL competitions.
1) Tom Mitchell, NEAFL Round 8, Sydney Swans vs. Eastlake (243 Fantasy Points)
There are big games of football, and then there are games like Tom Mitchell had against Eastlake. The 21-year-old ball magnet set a disposal world record that is hard to see being broken. The young Swan had 64 disposals (28 kicks, 36 handballs) and four goals in what would surely go down as one of the most dominant individual displays at State League level. 24 of his disposals were contested and he also had 14 marks, 14 I50s, 12 clearances and 22 score involvements in his side‘s 131-point win over Eastlake. He went at 78% efficiency and his disposal breakdown for each quarter was 18, 18, 18 and 10. Simply an amazing individual effort.
2) Max Gawn, VFL Round 14, Casey Scorpions vs. Bendigo Gold, (187 Fantasy Points)
The 208cm giant put on a clinic in the ruck for Casey against his undersized Bendigo opponents. Gawn amassed a Champion Data record 80 hit outs while also causing damage around the ground with 26 disposals, five tackles and a goal. His Fantasy Points could have been higher had he taken more of his chances in front of goal.
3) Josh Kelly, NEAFL Round 11, UWS Giants vs. NT Thunder (187 Fantasy Points)
The highly-touted midfielder has only played one NEAFL game and if his early AFL performances are any indication, he may not play many more. But it was a game to remember with 44 disposals, 11 marks and four goals in a clear best on ground performance against the Thunder.
4) Ben Jacobs, VFL Round 8, North Ballarat vs. Bendigo Gold (182 Fantasy Points)
The young Kangaroo has a history of racking up big numbers at lower levels. He once had 47 disposals in an NAB U18 Championships game and several big games in the SANFL while listed with Port Adelaide. This game was no exception with 42 touches, four goals and 12 marks in the Roosters‘ big win over the Gold.
5) Maverick Weller, VFL Round Three, Sandringham vs. North Ballarat (181 Fantasy Points)
The former Gold Coast Suns midfielder was keen to make a good impression at his new club and a dominant midfield display for Sandringham put his name up for St Kilda selection. Weller notched up 39 possessions, three goals and 10 tackles early in the season against North Ballarat.
6) Max Gawn, VFL Round 15, Casey Scorpions vs. Frankston (178 Fantasy Points)
It was the second big week in a row for Gawn with another dominant ruck performance. The big Demon had 23 disposals, five tackles, 39 hit outs and four goals in his side‘s six-point loss to Frankston.
7) Kyle Martin, VFL Round Seven, Collingwood vs. Bendigo Gold (175 Fantasy Points)
The small midfielder was one of a number of players that ran riot in a 115-point win over Bendigo Gold. Martin gathered 34 disposals, four goals, 11 marks and seven tackles.
8) Kurt Aylett, VFL Round Three, Essendon vs. Bendigo Gold (173 Fantasy Points)
Put simply, Kurt Aylett is a tackling machine in the VFL. The former GWS player averages 12 tackles per game, which is an unbelievable tally by anyone‘s standards. On this Friday afternoon in Bendigo he had 36 possessions, 12 tackles and 10 marks.
9) Mark Whiley, NEAFL Round 15, UWS Giants vs. Gold Coast (173 Fantasy Points)
At AFL level, Whiley often plays as a tagger and curbs the effectiveness of opposition midfielders. But he is allowed more freedom in the NEAFL and against the struggling Gold Coast he gathered 45 disposals, 12 marks and goal.
10) Shane Biggs, NEAFL Round 14, Sydney vs. Ainslie (172 Fantasy Points)
Biggs is one of a number of Swans midfielders that average over 30 disposals in the NEAFL. His biggest performance came against Ainslie when he gathered 50 possessions and a goal. Funnily enough his ball-magnet partner in crime in Tom Mitchell collected 45 disposals himself, after starting with 18 in the first quarter.

I've just come up with a theory. Perhaps we enquired about Biggs only because the Bulldogs are interested in him. Perhaps we are trying to sort out a possible 3 way deal that would see us get Cooney. Probably wrong but considering all the rubbish rumours you read, making stuff up is fair game.
