Something doesn’t add up

Things like how you plan to provide opportunities for indigenous people, metrics to measure it. But primarily it’s about what you put in place to provide a safe working place for indigenous people that provides cultural understanding.

Given everything going on right now. Even with Betts this week, it’s a massive blunder by the AFL not having evolved it.

Fair chance there is no social media polices at the moment.

There is a lot of fluff in this explanation and it needs to be rewritten and explained in plain language, like what is the goal and targets to achievement.
Seems EFC does not have one, according to the site’s search engine

They definitely have one, and iirc there’s also some kind of committee… not sure how active or effective it is.

We absolutely do have one, and it’s adjusted every year. We have a group that look at it all the time.

It’s one of those things you assume every org has. Given the higher than average rate of indigenous employment in the AFL it’s genuinely perplexing they don’t have a regular evolving RAP.

The AFL make a lot of money from Dreamtime. Just saying…

Haven’t read the the article, but is it suggesting that prior 2016 the AFL did have a reconciliation plan? And it expired or something? Why four years in particular?

They do have one. But it’s suppose to be adjusted annually at a minimum.

It’s a formal document that is an industry guide on how to deal with things like racism in the workplace. Given how often indigenous AFL players are targeted with racism. It genuinely is pathetic the AFL haven’t updated theirs in that time.

A plan you don’t look at for 4 years isn’t a plan. It’s a document you write for symbolism and then put it away in the filling cabinet.

I think it’s ok to call that out and say how about we both write and follow through on a real plan. A real plan would be updated at least annually. Otherwise you’re not even assessing the progress that’s happened during the year.

Seems a bit bizarre that an organisation as big as the AFL and with the amount of indigenous players that are involved in Footy that they wouldn’t have one.

They have one, they just haven’t updated it in 4 years.

It’s out of date. Expired. Useless.
The only thing it’s good for is a coffee coaster on someone’s desk.

If there isn’t a team or officer responsible for implementation or accountability of a plan… it’s not worth the paper it’s printed on.
