Could Brasher’s love for the club and the players be his biggest flaw, rose coloured glasses firmly on and overrating the current list like many happy clappers tend to do.

but on-field success will matter to companies who want to put bigger $$$ into clubs doing well on the field
after a while (soon) the Essendon brand built on old successes won’t be easy to sell

I don’t know much, but it seems to me we draft young …gun… certain position players, and then they are immediately played in different positions, for team freaking balance.

Brasher gave himself the smallest of outs to sack Rutten in that video when he said “we believe we will see a much better 2nd half to the year”. If things continue to go badly, they could easily use that as a reason for turfing Rutten

We are the most arrogant club and we have got what we deserve. Hire coaches with phony selection processes where we already know the result and have internal reviews every few years where nothing significant changes. Suck ■■■■ to us

The media coverage of all of this is total trash.
Start by listening to the Brasher interview with Whately yourselves . I’m very critical of all the things the club are doing - and Paul’s part in it too , absolutely -but the context and nuance of what he actually said has been lost by much of the media grabs and headlines from it. Listen to it and evaluate it in its entirety, not just flip out on abridged “quotes”.
