Something seriously wrong with the club (Part 2, March 2022)

It is what and who we have become. Who knows!

The Lizard people AGAIN?!

I’ve been a member for over 20 years. Every year paying my hard earned money. Over the last 15 years or so, this club has destroyed me. Even Disco Moorabbin has had a couple of GFs to show for. Most clubs (bar GC) have been up, down and back up at least twice (up as in genuine top 4). I’ll be admitted into MCC this June which will set me back a few hunch. I think 2022 will be my last year as an Essendon member. Not paying for incompetence.

Except for Dodoro who has a lifetime tenure

I’ll pay that actually. That was a massive red flag to me. Round 1, you should be jumping out of your skin to play and at least show great effort. What was it, 7 goals to 1 at QT? Our season summed up in 20 mins of football. And the 3rd term on Sunday was probably worse.

Paul Brasher would earn my respect if he sacked Campbell and Dodoro this week.

Campbell has done a great job shoring up the finances but failed miserably on the football side. Thanks but time to get a football centric CEO.

Dodoro must go immediately so we have someone, the right person, on board leading up to the trade and draft.

These two sackings will send the fear of god through the whole club and maybe jolt a few of the Instagram Brigade out of their lethargy. Rutten to be put on notice that anything less than 11 wins this year will see him shown the door.

Their supporters, for all their insufferableness, have gone nowhere. While the reigning premiers fail to quarter-fill the MCG, Essendon fans buy their memberships and resume their reserved seats.

Well at least we’ve got something going for us. :slightly_smiling_face:

No further signings of Coaches and players. Everyone is on notice, come the end of the year - its broom time.

We need to get honest and feel the pain of that honesty, rather than looking for someone to blame.

We will be bottom four the way we are playing and if we continue to play this way, we will lose most games. This is where we are headed.

Cleanout must come at the end of the year, there’s nowhere to hide.

I think it’s a key point.

We’ve stuck by the club despite their constant mistakes for years. We have some of the biggest clappers that I know with some of our fans defending the club at all lengths, despite the club not producing.

The fans need to wake up to this and stop accepting it

the problem with the club is we dont lose enough. get hammered week in week out and you’ll get change eventually, and thats the only way itll happen

its like a poorly run maccas, do just enough to avoid getting sued for food poisoning and you’ll keep going

Was there vision of the players having a good laugh in the rooms after the game?

I don’t think many of us are accepting of our on field performance.

I am not looking forward to this weeks game. At all.

Will I make it to half time? This is the big question. I refuse to watch this dross being presented week in/week out. I watched every moment of everygame through the worst of then SAGA. Team played with more spirit then that they have showed at anytime this year. This mob just don’t seem to care…

I cant wait till the AFLW team gets going. I am going to follow them. As long as the AFLM virus doesnt infect them too…I hope they stay well away.

From a business sense we are. We keep buying memberships and going to games.

And footy clubs are a business.

I made the decision last year to not renew my membership until we won a final. This is the only power and opportunity we have as members to protest. I would encourage more people to do the same. Currently, the football club doesn’t deserve our hard earned.

I have a lot of friends that are unfortunately.

They’re not diehard Essendon fans like us, but still follow the team and buy memberships every year.

This week I have heard them say “now that they’ve got smashed in the media, they will respond against the Magpies, that Fremantle game was a one off”

They just have a short memory, and don’t realise that this isn’t a one off. It’s been the same for the last 15 years
