Or RoCo actually has as much idea as Lloyd and Wobbo. Win = good, lose = bad.
EDIT: And I agree that sacking Dodo would be an absolutely wonderful scapegoat and divert a lot of attention. Just like Neeld was, and Worsfold and Craig etc etc etc, which shows you how well scapegoating actually works…
Surely I’m not the only one who finds Slobbo’s ramblings absolutely unreadable? What’s with the one-sentence paragraphs (which often aren’t actually a sentence at all)?
His assertations may well be spot-on. I just can’t get through them.
You watch us come out all fired up this week. Parish will have 40 possessions by half time, Merrett 35 and the scoreboard will read Ess 3.12.30 to Haw 6.1.37.
Interesting that players were happy with the training last year and things were looking up. Has anything material changed in training last year to this year?
Strong contenders for our annus horribilis would be:
2006 (lost 13 in a row before regaining some pride at the end of the season)
2010 (Matthew Knights final year as coach, ended the year with some absolutely horrific losses)
2013 (supplements saga breaking)
2016 (supplements saga punishment)
2020 (the onfield capitulation when COVID hit, our glorious ‘move’ to the Queensland hub and the infamous coaching transition)
However 2022, in our 150th year, could top them all. The signs are all there. I actually truly believe though we need to hit absolutely rock bottom before any sort of potentially positive change is implemented.
Seriously, imagine being a midfielder at Essendon. Your line coach Blake Caracella is teaching you the things he taught and learned at richmond, geelong, and the pies, three flags as a coach, more top 4 finishes than you’ve had seasons in the league, and when you can’t do what he’s telling you your conclusion is “this bloke has no idea what he’s talking about”.
Amazing that the heat continues to be put on the coaching staff, when it’s the decision makers that need to be replaced if we are to really move forward
