Something seriously wrong with the club (Part 2, March 2022)

He’s an ordinary communicator. Something quite uninspiring and inauthentic about the way he comes across.

In comparison, Craig McRae and Sam Mitchell both are prepared to give more than the cliche, bare minimum answers. When I’ve heard them they put forth some ideas, recount some stories or share some humour.

There’s some warmth, authenticity and humanity to them that is endearing. They seem comfortable within themselves and in their roles enough to give more of themselves.

Now I don’t know if Truck is just uninspiring and boring to the media but he’s great to the playing group ala John Longmire but geez, he’d want to be.

P.S. Yeah Jobe, Mitchell’s a ■■■■ blah blah

I found him really good with the media last year. I found him as you describe Macrae and Mitchell (Sam) I guess you meant. He was a breath of fresh air after Worsfold.

However, his demeanour has completely changed and he is how you describe him. It’s another thing that baffles me. There are things happening behind the scenes at this club that have completely shifted from last season to this one and the result is what we’re seeing on field. I’m convinced of it. I just can’t work it out.

Yeah Sam sorry, edited.

To be honest I felt he was fairly similar last year even when we were performing above expectations.

I mean you’re always going to be better received when you’re going ok but I compare the way he communicated last year to how the other two coaches I mentioned come across this year and I don’t find him nearly as impressive. It’s like you can see each word ticking over in his head as he says it. It’s quite stilted, robotic and drab.

Sam Mitchell is light years more tactical than rutten

Saints drove up Drapers price and contract reckon we want to get one back at St.Kilda

Sam Draper no way worth 4 years on big money

Draper stayed for less than what the Saint offered, which was $1.7mil for 4 years, or $425,000 per year. Based on that you would assume he’s on max $400k per season. Seams about right for a promising emerging Ruck.

i hope we’re not after marshall

really, really hope we aren’t

Must not have faith in Bryan

Maybe still a lot for a ruckman who hasn’t shown anything imo

General Connolly on the warpath again. Like most of us, he’s not at all happy and is very clear in where he thinks the issues start.

Probably a smokescreen to distract from the shitstorm. If not then truly Dodo has to go. I mean for fucksake we’ve got a lot of list holes but the rucks we have are good enough for the time being at least I would’ve thought.

Not holding back is he?

The club won’t listen so he’s wasting his breath

I’m a lifelong supporter, born in the early 80s, and 2015 is the worst season we’ve had in my lifetime, in my opinion. There were reasons, of course, but it was absolutely agonising. 2016 was a walk in the park by comparison.

And on the evidence of the first seven rounds, 2022 could be challenging 2015 for outstanding shitness…

I’d love to think that by the time of this 150th gala bullshit fans will be so disenfranchised it will be in an empty room attended by 3 men and a dog. It would send a strong and loud message to the cockwombles that run our shambles of a club.

Sadly it will be chock-a-block full of happy clappers and old-timers slapping each other on the back, telling each other how great we are. One big farking circle jerk.

Honestly, this 150th crap feels more like a wake to me…

And you know what, they are that arrogant and out of touch with the average Bomber fan that I doubt they will care.
As long as the same crew is at the helm, the circle jerking and back slapping will continue on for next year and beyond.

First post In a long time. I actually think that Essendon aren’t doing as badly as the criticism sugg ests. We have only lost to one side out of the eight so far and didn’t get completely thrashed by any of the top 3 clubs we have played. We are far from good, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see us scrape a few wins together over the next few weeks. Who knows we may end up just missing out of the finals in the end.

This will probably result in the media circus moving on to look for easier blood. However, what it will mean is yet another mediocre season perhaps not a terrible season by normal measures. However, for me this would be a terrible season. Another mid range season where Essendon can point to development, 3 year plan etc etc. and nothing changes. It’s like a recurring nightmare for Essendon supporters.

I would rather be on the end of 100 point losses every week then another average season which according to the spin is the path to future success. At least if we get flogged every week, finish bottom few we get a good draft pick and the spot light will be firmly in the club and the list. Perhaps then the club may move forward finally. I can only hope.

But I expect that we will chalk out the necessary wind to prevent wholesale change and rinse and repeat.

Edit: excuse me if this is a repeat of numerous other posts or is off topic. But I had to vent somewhere.

would be scenes if hirdy was at the 150th gala and the board and xavier were ousted in a hostile take over.

If Rutten survives until the end of the season I’d be astounded. If feels like Knights 2.0. What a mess

Maybe this year will be the one that brings the right sort of change.
I have never seen such concerted anger from fans, former players and press.
