Something seriously wrong with the club (Part 2, March 2022)

You probably have more inside knowledge than me so can’t argue that. He was a bad choice of player and has been a definite bust on that deal.

Yes we should be ready for a review of how crap we are & what we can do going forwards…either that or have a review in a forum @ good ol discourse.bomberlitz & perhaps we’ll pull another win out of our ■■■.

Not really, I just listen to people in here that do.

It’s cancelling the white noise of people that want an easy target like dodoro that becomes tiresome.

(Not directed at you).

At the time the whole game plan was set up around Daniher being bothered to be here and those players from saad, smith, stringer all made sense.

Dodoro isn’t responsible for making players happy to be here.

That’s on the administration, who clearly don’t like being made uncomfortable about it.

Seriously though if they aren’t doing a review, some public recognition of issues as a club we are working on and what’s being done to address would be swell.

I’m shocked to hear that one of the people that has been at the club the longest doesn’t want an external review done.

Sorry, don’t know where to put this.

Just a rumination.

IMO Tullamarine was just an awful place to build what has become known as the Hanger.

That said, the planned airport rail line - will it make the place more accessible for supporters, not necessarily just for training etc. but VFL games, and in general feeling like the club actually exists somewhere out there, disconnected from the supporter base?

Probably not, but it would be some consolation.

Isn’t that artificial surfing joint something that would benefit from better PT access as well?

Docklands move and Tullamarine site/moving from Windy Hill - representative of the soul of the club being disregarded by those responsible with protecting it IMO, that is evident on so many levels. Caving to a bowling club. Why was that bowling club space so essential anyway, has anyone asked that question? Could the plan have not been modified? Flashpoint of capilation and loss of identity.

I know that’s been said before. I guess my point was more efficient PT access than catching 6 buses would be some consolation for younger fans and those without private transport etc.

Good place for a bowls club

Dodoro might be the face of drafting and at the table on draft day, behind the scenes on bargaining. But who else is on the draft selection team? How much say do the coaches have?

True. The third S was Saad.

not necessarily wrong.

mcgrath was the best hbf’er at the time, had alot of traits etc.

the issue is they’ve tried to turn him into a midfeilder which he isn’t, instead of developing him as an elite defender.

now he’s good at hbf, and good in the midfield, instead of really good as a HBF’er who can pinch hit in the middle when needed.

there inlies the problem with dodo and the club, always thnking they can turn someone into a midfielder instead of just developing midfielders. and then when they do get pure mids they stick em in the forwardline.

Coleman and Neale Daniher born to soon before the advance in technology. Hird born at the right time to get his foot and face rearranged to playing level.

I could be wrong, but I think it might have been a combination of factors. The following is all assumption as I dont know what is fact.

  1. Moonee Valley Council own the ground and Bowls Club
  2. It was also the home ground of Essendon Cricket Club
  3. EFC wanted to expand the size of the ground meaning it would have compromised the Bowls Club.
  4. EFC probably wanted year round access to the ground to train, and also the removal of the cricket club so the turf pitch could be removed so they didnt have to train around it.
  5. EFC and the Council may not have had the best relationship. Probably didnt with the Bowls or Cricket clubs either.
  6. The Council probably didnt have an alternate site for the Bowls Club, nor the appetite for a forced relocation. Cricket may have been easier, but possibly not.
  7. Very good chance that EFC stuffed up the advocacy from the outset and had to leave Windy Hill to develop the Hanger facilities,… probably with it’s tail between it’s legs.

This thread is getting bumped early tonight.

Before then, wasn’t there something about moving out the Essendon Club? Think EFC did some manoeuvre to get the owners of the land to pay for the the only possible facility upgrade with the building of the Hird Stand.
At least we didn’t go under financially when others did and become VFL/AFL mendicants.
Jackson didn’t want to invest in new training facilities at the ground and we fell behind.

And… it’s crisis time again. What did winning last week do? Sure it was nice to stick it up Mitchell and makes them look bad but it just papered over the cracks, we need serious heat on the club every week until we hit rock bottom and the penny ■■■■■■■ drops.

One really easy answer to.whats wrong with the club

XAVIER CAMPBELL
Hires whoever without due process. Gets football managers fired from Melbourne and Richmond . Mahoney was given the boot at and then the whole culture changed wasn’t liked at all.
Hired two coaches without process. That’s not the coaches fault.
Hasn’t got the balls to make big decisions. The fact that Dudoro is there and the recruiting department hasn’t changed a lot during this whole.lean period says it all.
The policy of recruiting easy to handle meek and mild players rather than guys with mongrel.

THE BOARD

BRASHER says it all one video then bang gone.
No guts to sack Campbell. Jobs for the boys.
Worried about their own standing rather than what’s best for the football club all need to go

THE PLAYERS

Blame the coach all you like . But at the end of the day the players are the ones who choose not to tackle be soft. Play loose with no accountability. Yep the saga was terrible but it was 10 years ago. Grow some nuts boys

So who do we send the cheque to if we want a truckload of manure delivered to Tulla?
