Something seriously wrong with the club (Part 3, August 2022)

I’m going in tonight out of respect for Hurley… however this club I have followed all my life buying memberships year after year I feel now has finally broken me.

We don’t stand for anything apart from mediocre performances, making big dollars from furniture sponsorships and crappy discount at the bomber shop wow just bloody wow.

When I grew up there was pride saying you barracked for Essendon, a club that fought to the bitter end and coach who defended club and supporters with everything he had.

Now I see footy a club more interested in $ $ understand we need to be strong financially, however the core of this club is to win games of footy this seems to be an afterthought, given the merry go around in the football department.

Like most of us I agree a bloody big broom needs to be swept through this place , however a big part me thinks nothing will really change.

I’m hurting guys and the club I love is dying right in front of me.

I’d say that person is biased because his behind the scenes work in the last week beggars belief.

Many will disagree with this statement. And I’m only guessing.

But I think that’s a massive dig at Heppell.

Why are you angry towards North. Do you really believe that will be anything more than a footnote in AFL history in ten years. They’re going nowhere. They were the team of the nineties for godsake and even then couldn’t build anything of a lasting nature. They are a propped up basket case who now have a flashy coach whose best days may well be behind him.

Don’t waste emotional energy on North. Direct that energy at our Board and Management. They’re the villains.

THE WORLD IS ENDING THE WORLD IS ENDING.

Seriously, calm your clams. We’ll be right. Give it time, go through external review, get rid of junk from staff level to player level (Everyone should be for sale or just get rid of after a shamble of a year, we have nothing to lose) draft well.

Be positive.

And therein lies the problem

Ruttens position is untenable, if you asked a 100 people 99 would say he won’t be the coach of Essendon on Monday the other person is Paul Brasher. However I am genuinely concerned that they will retain him and the only reason for this is that our board is that useless that it could actually find a way to justify a decision that keeps Rutten.

I reckon he pulled the pin trying to divert attention from the pathetic Port defeat and it blew up in our faces from there, a bit of back slapping re tough ■■■■ Barham from the fans it stupidity took on an Essington life of it’s own.

Yeah look, I know. Past performance is rubbish, look at the past decade. But lets give this external review a chance. It’s the only thing we got left. If we kept to the same direction, we would get the same rubbish.

Yep.

All that has to be done is work out how.

I know he has to feed his family and pay off his mortgage but I would lose a lot of respect for Rutten if he was to survive the Sunday Board meeting and meekly continue on.

If it was me I’d be demanding a full payout and tell them all to GAGF!!

He was betrayed and hung out to dry by the fools who run the club. How in gods name could you then continue to work for them because they haven’t got a better option.

Yep. Anybody that tries to pin this on Sheedy is in denial about how much of a ■■■■■■■ joke our play for Clako actually was.

The external review is a macguffin. Surely the club already knows the dead weight and just needs the report to justify making the calls.

Hear farking hear.

Yep they’ll probably use it to move people on since they won’t resign and it’d look predetermined.

The Players shouldn’t run the Club

Players have every right to be upset with how their coach is treated. That’s exactly how you want a group to respond.

Twenty years of ineptitude says otherwise

Wot ?

Players are the ones who have the biggest say in a Coaches future. And how was the precious puppy treated, still had his job, still getting paid.

I would have sacked him Sunday night after the game, in front of the players.

We’ve had a host of external people come into the club over that time too. Blitz already has a massive list of things that need fixing. The review won’t tell us anything we don’t already know. It’s just a way to justify firings.
