I would have thought performance on the football field would be ample justification
Heās their coach. Unless heās lost the playing group of course they are going to support him.
Oh please words words words, the evidence and runs are on the āboardā = they have all been complicit in the Worsfold extension, Rutten handover, X extensions and commissioning the mickey mouse review that finally showed these fraudsters up, his only action if a man of any honour (which they are all not, itās just self interest and protection as the evidence has proven) is to dissolve the lot of em so new leaders are found to sought it out.
You see I read the story about the players giving Barham a serve over how Rutten was treated and how they werenāt consulted about Clarko. This sense of entitlement in the group is really ā ā ā ā ā ā ā me off. Their lack of effort, accountability and buy-in throughout this season is why Rutten is where heās at so at what point do the club administrators turn to that group and ask them why they put up what they did this year? So yes it would seem our ācultureā is broken. I canāt wait for this external review. If done right Iām hoping a broom will go through the joint and straighten up a few.
Barham not being a polished media performer right now is the least of our problems I would say. If he is like you say or as his reputation would have him then idgaf if he canāt string three words together in front of a camera. Let him sort this ā ā ā ā out. Actions are more important than words right now.
But didnāt they down tools last week and turn the flamethrower up a few more notches?
Clarkson himself said he didnāt entertain the offer because it came too late. Of course if he had just told the club that straight away instead of trolling the board all week and pretending to have sympathy for Ruttenās position, most of the bad press would have been avoided.
Again, that shyte is on the board, we know calko is a carnt, EFC decided to do this in a fully dramatised way anyway, cos we are essington.
Really? First Iā ve heard of any input from the players.
If true, I agree with you. Onfield performance is as bad as the clubās off field.
With this board, it is a genuine chance that they keep him onā¦ā¦that is the standard of leadership they have shown so far.
As many have said on here. Our club has been hijacked by ex-players, coaches and coterie influenced board members who seem to be tied up in their own self importance. They put personal relationships ahead of decisions in the best interests of the clubā¦.it filters through and poisons the organisation.
I never thought this club would bring me to feeling as low as I did during the other āsagaā. Yet here I am again utterly broken.
The Board and management (and I use the term loosely) seem utterly oblivious to their own fallibility. They are impervious to criticism and unable engage in any form of self reflection. The same mistakes are made over and over again.
I hope our new chairman is true to his word and a thorough external review is conducted and recommendations acted upon but my faith in this being a turning point is at a very low ebb.
Besides which coach we should get, the other key issue is āWhat is their timeline for success?ā
We, and other clubs in this situation, talk about building for success. Being patient. But when things aināt going well after a couple of years the eyes start twitching and fans/boards/media get antsy and start questioning if this was the right appointment.
Are we going to be patient? Are we going to set achievable realistic goals and stick to them?
For me, what you need to see in that initial phase is improvement in skills and execution. Execution shows we are developing cohesion amongst the players to implement the game plan.
Competitiveness and wins should then follow.
I also want to see very clear setting of standards for the playing group. They need to know what is and isnāt acceptable and what the consequences will be.
Please⦠letās get it as right as possible this time round, both with the coach selection and the timeline. Our primary goal/focus as a club must now be what we do on the field.
Problem is the external review seems to have been given boundaries before itās began
I honestly donāt think this is anywhere near as bad as the saga. This is the first time the club has been shown to actually care about on-field performance since 2013. it might have been a fiasco but at least itās a start.
Bring back Hird!

Complete rubbish.
Sheedy had zero influence on Clarksonās decision.
Yep. As if Clako would even pay attention. What is likely, is that Sheedy had the inside word that Clako wasnāt even a chance.

Yep, we keep resetting when things get tough. Weāve just set ourselves back another 3+ years.

I never thought this club would bring me to feeling as low as I did during the other āsagaā. Yet here I am again utterly broken.
I actually think this is lower than the saga because at least back then we all bonded together behind the players and coach who were used as scapegoats by the AFL. It was an us versus them moment.
Now, itās just mortifying and embarrassing.
I think Hird should take Xavierās job. At least he values on field performance over money.
Morning all,
Quick one, who is our coach today?
Thanks
