Also people kidding themselves if they think Tsatas will be a similar player.
⌠Or is it the playing surface? Or is it sub optimal recovery facilities? Or is it less than 100% âAFL lifestyleâ manifesting itself by injury recurrences? Iâd say itâs multilayered and several factors. I donât know the driver, I just know they donât know whatâs causing the problem. And thatâs the biggest concern.
This â â â â ainât so complicated. Same thing happened when we were at Windy Hill. We just recruit the wrong players and hire the wrong support people around them.
What about 2013 when we were top of the ladder until the AFLPA told the players we werenât playing in the finals? Hird never had a chance once Evans ratted on him.
A heart is made up of tissue.
Here are our issues:
Recruiting
Strength and conditioning
Development coaching
We have the wrong type of player for the modern game.
We injure them all the time so they canât get on the park.
Our players canât seem to develop their games, year on year.
Itâs the same issues as last year and many before it.
Do I need to yell it a bit louder for those up the back?
Apparently one of Murphyâs key concerns was the hardness of the training grounds according to someone on here.
Wouldnât have happened if we went with our previously selected candidate.
And â â â â hawthorn.
Bingo. Iâm starting to think a resilient body is more than talent.
No point recruiting really talent, promising players if there body just isnât able to cope with the manic, modern game.
Laverde couldnât cope in the opening minutes.
Still not an excuse thought is it. How come blokes like Merrett and McGrath can pretty much remain uninjured? Itâs because they have the body composition for the modern game.
They are 18 year olds. People mature and grow.
This is why I think the draft age is too young.
This is crap. So many players do amazing things in their first year. Imagine holding the guns back a year, why?
Imagine them having another year or so to mature and develop. They would come into sides with instant influence. The occurrence of first year players having much of an impact is pretty â â â â â â â low.
It also separates those who are more motivated to make it. Once players are out of school and in the real world their priorities shift. This is where you see the true drive of individuals.
I agree but it canât change because you canât hold a Daicos, Selwood, Sheezal, Walsh etc back
I mean you easily could.
A couple of things about last night:
1: our 2x rucks were flogged. Drap in particular did not physically give it to Port & even give our onballers a 50 / 50 chance. My biggest disappointment from the game
2: port were too fast for us. Not surprised with a team containing Hepp, Hobbs, Menzie & Hobbs. All bog slow and all 4 had mistaken ridden games to boot. A couple need to go at the very least
3: our intensity at the ball in the 1st quarter was great, but we seemed to struggle to keep the intensity up. Does this game plan burn our game at the back end
4: some players were playing less than their usual standard, in particular Langford & Parish leading me to think they arenât 100% fit
5: Jones is a required player that must be played for an extended period
6: we need a replacement for Lav. Love his effort but he is not tall enough
I reckon what would in fact happen is a bunch of kids whose parents could afford it would be sending them to the Famous Ex-Player Football Academy full time for a year. And the kids whose parents couldnât afford it would go into the âreal worldâ.
That academy wouldnât be as highly regarded as you think.
