rutten era: ‘were not rebuilding’ take rebuilding steps.

Scott era: ‘we are good enough’ - whatever the ■■■■ the last 9 rounds have been.

i’d cop this if we spent two years putting some actual work into our vfl team as a contingency for whatever scott’s doing not paying off

Well yeah, undermining what you say is the fastest way to alienate yourself from the supporter base.

I re-phrase then.

Sell us a clear long term vision that takes the supporters along for the ride with them and then have your actions marry up with it.

Possibly, though if Vozzo and Scott are the ones to have decided that this list is good enough, no matter what, then maybe not…

LOL

Don’t forget the old Saucy v Menzies (whatever his name was) and CGates v Blitz

I’m hoping it’s more let’s “see if the list is good enough”. They get their data this year and make significant changes.

I do find it interesting that Truck made finals in 2021, with a heap of the same team playing career best football. He was then sacked before he finished his second year.

We now have Scott who is going to miss finals with many of the same players (except even more experienced), and he seems to have this untouchable element to him.

I must admit, I don’t see it.

“The next month for this football club is so crucial, for Brad Scott as a coach, for the leadership in the playing group, they need to show some metal, they need to show some edge, they need to show some fight. I’m not even concerned about whether they make finals or win a final anymore, it really is about a minimum expectation and standard, and the edge that they spoke about, that they propagated in some shape or form, needs to be evident in this last month”.

Poor Bucks has always stuck his neck out this season for us in the media. He loves us. We’ve made a liar out of him.

Even more so when that 2021 team was the second least experienced team in the league that year, only Gold Coast was less experienced then us, we also debuted 7 new AFL players that season, and finished the season with our best % in over a decade.

North is the perfect case study for us at the moment.

Following their flag in 99 they spent close to two decades yo -yo ing the mid table. They snuck a couple of prelims but never finished higher than 6 in the regular season.

The board directed them top up with FAs to try and turn 6th into a flag (polec at the end of 2018). The attempt failed.

In the 2020 they accepted their fate and loaded up in the next 4 drafts. Out of that lot they drafted 2 generational players and have managed to retain one who they will build their side around. The path they are on is really starting to take shape now.

You don’t get generational players every year but if you take a glut of top 4 picks over several years you improve your odds. Carlton and Melbourne have both bottomed out unsuccessfully in the past. Their are no guarantees…

But if we continue what we’re doing I guarantee it will not generate success

best i can do is lead

21st century supporters understand that rebuilds are required

hawthorn, north and richmond fans (for the most part) haven’t been screaming for change at their clubs in 2023 and 2024 because they understand that eating dirt for a couple of years is a necessity

(and also because their clubs have actively demonstrated that they are changing)

and also 2 of those 3 have tasted success, gratuitous disgusting amounts of it

What is Richmond doing (aside from having a long injury list) that is any different to us?

well i don’t seem to know any richmond fans any more so couldn’t actually tell you

(^^ joke post)

Get Cotchin as an assistant coach in 2025.

He has seen what it takes to turn around a 20+ year underachieving basket case.
