Something seriously wrong with the club (Part 3, August 2022)

It won’t though, it will be years of pain through a rebuild to get to mid table again. Rebuilds are overrated in this day and age, they rarely work and won’t with 20 teams in the comp soon. You can walk and chew gum at the same time, just retain all our top picks, this year we should get 2 top 15 picks effectively.

David King also said that Essendon has the talent.

I wonder if Hodgy is going to apologise to King this week.

I remember when he went on the LCU pod 2 years ago and went on about how good our drafting and recruiting had been

HAHAHA

His point still stands though? In fact I think he mentioned it took Hawthorn multiple failures in high pressure scenarios before they got it right.

No, things are different at Essendon, the problems run deeper than what Hodge was claiming, a lot deeper.

You reckon he’d change his mind after one week?

It will be a repeat of 2016 for 5 years minum

2016 was the worst season of football in history ive sat through fark going through that for multiple years.

2016 was the most relaxed enjoyable year of football I’ve experienced as an adult.

Nope but he was/is wrong, Hodge has no idea of our problems, King has seen this for the last decade.

As I said early, I really enjoyed it, zero expectations and stress, just watching footy for the sake of it and enjoying the little glimpses from young developing players

Who in the top 8 went full nuclear with a rebuild? Brisbane maybe?

2016 was more enjoyable than 2006, 2019, 2020, 2022

Thats not enough for me to sit through a rebuild not worth going just to see a glimpse of a kid that might the good in the future

We don’t care about what you want. It’s happening.

Will you sit through another decade like the last two? At what point is it enough for you?

There was also a pretty clear idea we would get better very quickly the next year.

Clearly there’s a breakdown in comms on what constitutes a rebuild. Not all rebuilds/list culls are the same. Some are more extreme than others.

But Nino, what you suggested absolutely fits the bill of what everyone considers to be a rebuild.

I’ll go to every game like i did in 2016 if they decide enough is enough and do a rebuild. I lay them that promise, like they give a crap anyways lol.

Same, probably the most enjoyable season in the past 20 years for me.

With that said, rebuilds aren’t really a thing. They’ve never been proven to work. Sides like Richmond, Geelong and Hawthorn come to mind but they were assisted with GWS and GCS coming into the competition and diluting the talent pool across other possible contenders.
