Something seriously wrong with the club (Part 3, August 2022)

Well Blitzers, I finally did it… finally emailed the club to cancel my membership. The club has defeated me.

I guess this is the only thing that I can do to “punish” the club and it sucks.

I hate how blase and uninterested I’ve become about supporting this club. The season was over after the Adelaide loss and I haven’t really bothered to watch any more games after that. I guess I’ll get some interest again next season, as always, but it’s just going to end the same way after the bye. It’s going to take a long time to correct the mistakes of Dodoro and the board.

============================
Dear Membership department,

I have been a continuous member of the club since 1999, been living overseas since 2003 yet I continued tipping my money in because Essendon meant that much to me. But enough is enough, the club’s performance last year and this year have finally sucked the joy out of me for supporting this club. I have become blase about supporting this club and I hate it.

Every game, no matter how big our lead is, I am just dreading that moment when the opponent gets a string of goals scored and we end up losing the game. I can never feel confident about winning a game. Every season, no matter how many wins we get or how high up the ladder we are, I am just waiting for the inevitable season collapse after the mid-year bye. Last year and this year have proven my point beyond a doubt.

I have had enough and I would like to cancel my membership, my account number is ------. Please don’t send any renewal notice to me.

I will not be taking up membership again until I see a clear change in our recruiting and list strategy (let’s start by getting rid of Adrian Dodoro), until I see that the players are serious about putting effort in for a whole season, and until I see the players take kicking for goal seriously and train for it.

It seems to me that the club just has no idea how to get out of this hole. I don’t know how long it will take for the club to build a good list and finally be a premiership threat again, but I am well prepared for it to take longer than Richmond’s premiership drought, and possibly even my lifetime.

If Brad is who Blitz wants him to be, and is the coach the Club needs him to be, he will front the board within the next fortnight and tell them with brutal honesty that much of the list is not up to it and we need a full rebuild.

The board will then sack him and hire a “bullish” replacement.

We had the chance to re build, but most like most opportunities this club is presented with, we blew it.

We get too attached to these players, there was back slapping last week. I wrote in the freo review thread it’s the same 22 who will let you down next week, and it was true.

The chance to re-build was moving Parish and Redman on, could have got elite draft hand, but instead went McKay, Gresh and Duursma cos we thought we were closer than we are.

Add In horrendous deals to McGrath, and you get what you deserve.

Also, those who calling for Scott’s head, when will you learn, it ain’t the coach or coaches.
Club is a meme club.

The reason we don’t rebuild is because dodoro is still there, a rebuild would be an admission of failure

I don’t often agree with everything you put out there but at least you do. at least you care to challenge

This couldn’t be more spot on. The boards has presided over many disasters but like dodo who they keep supporting they are a constant.

Until they change approach and admit where we are at then nothing changes down the line. The power foundations need to be ripped out of the club.

Well sack another coach, CEO etc but the same poor decisions and direction will still exist. They’ll still tell us exciting times ahead while presiding over the worst record of current clubs bar the suns who are past us

Duursma has been good for us. we missed his gut running and toughness on the wings againts GC

The ultimate sign of how out of touch the club is with its fan base is when they announce stringers 2 year contract in the next 3 weeks telling us how good it is for the club

we don’t rebuild because the essendon board are a bunch of outright muppet ■■■■■ who wouldn’t know their arse from their elbow.

their interest is in staying on the board to rub shoulders with the rest of their ultra conservative fkwit friends and they have fk all interest in the essendon football club winning premierships unless it’s a happy ■■■■■■■ accident.

in fact the board are so risk averse that they don’t want to make any drastic changes that might see the team fall from mid table mediocrity into the lower reaches of the ladder because that would invite far more intense scrutiny and criticism and ultimately open them up to a board challenge.

this group of absolute arse clowns are far more content having a team sitting in the middle of the ladder because it’s easy to con the supporter base into thinking we might actually be going somewhere.

if not now…soon if we just keep waiting.

■■■■■■■ clowns.

every last one of them.

And there’s that as well the board are corrupt as they come, they won’t turf out a fellow business partner.
Dead set the fans should organise a mass walk out of the game against Sydney, everyone get up and leave at like 20th minute of the second quarter to celebrate dodoros 20 years

Very well written.

I’d love to know if you get a response, if any, from the club.

FISH ROTS AT THE HEAD. As a club we need to vote this inept board members who run this club, all they care about is profit margins, we need to drive change. Make some hard decisions, full rebuild.

The last 10 weeks aren’t hard to explain, our team is full of garbage footballers and a clueless coach.

What I’m struggling to understand is how we manage to win 8 games pre-bye. We are clearly the 4th worst side in the competition this year. We should be about a 6-17 side.

It’s actually a miracle we’ve got 11.5 wins.

The club aint going to rebuild.

If they were they wouldnt sign all these players on long term contracts or bringing FA’s in

They are backing in the current list its only way foward right now

Finally people are seeing what many of have for years.
We are in this position because people keep sticking up for the club and clinging to yesteryear.
Every time there has been a club vote the same idiots get re-elected because they are good blokes that played footy for us or coached us.
This club deserves everything that comes their way for being too gutless to change and keeping their incompetent mates hanging around like a bad smell.
Fark this club and every single person involved in it

first off, it’s definitely not the only way forward.

the list is ■■■■.

and so is the club.

off field needs a rebuild just as badly if not moreso than on field

the essendon football club has fk all genuine leadership off field.

Too many people at Essendon with their head up their ass who refuse to acknowledge we are an average side.

I honestly feel we are so trapped in past success that we don’t realise how ■■■■ we really are. I for one will not renew my membership next year. I’m not giving this shitshow of a club another dime until wholesale changes are made.

Doesn’t seem that simple it can’t be it was a miracle to get to 8 wins, it’s either the coach is actually ok or the players are ok.
I lean towards the coach is actually okish but the players are soft as butter
