Dodo = couldnt assemble a competitive midfield
No effective gameplan post 2014 Bomber Thompson = screwed on matchday
Whatever happened with Joe Daniher = screwed a generational player

It certainly has been an interesting season. But, as ever, we can’t seem to get consistent output from the team. The team that played last week should have beaten Richmond but that team never showed up.
My biggest concern is not what is happening now. My biggest concern is what was happening at the start of the year when we had the full team in.
That was when we had peak handball into teammates backs, go anywhere but forward football. Not to mention the poor skills! It wasn’t a tactic to move the team forward. The skills issue showed a lack of standards.
Sure, retaining BS has brought stability, but stability with nothing else, I’m not sure what that brings.
The other thing that is REALLY starting to worry me is the mental fragility of the established players, not the new guys. The established players have played through an era of collapse when the going gets tough. Players like Jones and Perkins who started well and have failed to live up to expectations. Players like Ridley who are on permanent injury rotation.
We are just mediocre Essendon.

Above average injuries? Your kidding … it’s diabolical ,it would be almost impossible to rebuild properly in a year with this sort of rod on your back

We replaced three experienced players with a first gamer, an in-experienced mid and a veteran that was underdone. Then we lost our second best player in the first quarter. It wasn’t the same team.

Coming out of nowhere supporting some hopeless agenda to preserve a failed disaster that needs to be excised as soon as possible.
At least WB had the sense to get rid of ZS when the flops continued.
Of course they had to get rid of the management that hired him before they were able to do so.

I tell you what things must be finally changing if we’re finally losing the fall over the line sh-t wins against bottom 8 opposition games.
Last night made up for one of the wins earlier this season.
Ill believe our tide is truly turning if North and St Kilda win a few games and we finally finish in the bottom 3 where we belong.

Consisting of…quality…people….like David Barham and Dorothy Hisgrove.

And if we think it’s going be any better under the ‘leadership’ of Andrew ‘I’m only successful because of my father’ Welsh, we’re all going to be sorely disappointed.
The only people that have had any real clue on that board in the last 15 years were Lio and Cousins, both voted in by members, and subsequently engineered out by the respective status quo board factions of the day.
Those who remain are, respectfully, just a continuation of the insular echo chamber which has proven time and again that they are incapable of steering this club towards success and they are also the majority of the reason Essendon has become and still remains objectively one of the worst performing football clubs in the AFL.
We’re not even commercially competent anymore which was at least something we used to have.
And those chickens will 100% be coming home to roost in the near future - bookmark it.
There is no leadership and there is certainly no culture of high performance being developed or embedded on Brad and Vozzo’s watch.
I would also bet the farm on the fact that Essendon has just about the worst footy department in the AFL and an equally poor locker room culture to go along with it. Merrett is the consummate professional but a bit like one of his favoured mentors in Judd the majority of the team respect him greatly, but their actions show that they don’t follow him, they just…defer to him.
It would be worth the club reflecting on why some more successful clubs over time, have chosen players who aren’t necessarily their best players, to lead them.
Finally, to hark back to a comment someone (probably Darli) made years ago, this club absolutely sucks at communication.
The fan frustration is largely because of all the inconsistency and the obvious contradictions between what the club are saying and what they are actually doing.
Well that and the fact that half this site has been calling for some very obvious actions for the best part of 20 years.
Some of which the club are seemingly now wanting to have a bet each way with.
“We’re not rebuilding”
“oh wait, yes we are, look at all the debutants”
“But we wouldn’t be playing them if not for injury”
Etc
Et farking cetera.
The worst part is, we could have seen ourselves out of this mess in a couple of years if we had truly competent and capable leadership.
As it stands currently, we make everything 10 times harder than it should be.
Case in point, if the board and Scott simply did what was obvious 3 years ago - we’d already have the 3 years of talent people are only now setting themselves to wait for.
We would have had 3 years of development.
3 years of properly rebuilding the list.
We maybe also wouldn’t have bunched up all of our picks in a reportedly weak draft.
The list goes on.
TL:DR
Sack the board. All of them.
