Songs sadder than the state of the EFC

Another music thread but interested what songs make you shed a tear upon listening. I raise this as a song popped up for me on random shuffle that I hadn’t heard in a while. I always knew it was a great song and it did impact me then but as my circumstances have changed I got 30 seconds in and was a mess and had to hit pause as I had to teach a class. The song is by Grand Salvo (Melbourne musician) and is called The Boy’s Story of His Faithful Family Dog. 2 years ago we purchased a Golden Retriever puppy as an emotional support dog for my 12 yo child who has a bit going on and has/had no friends and he has transformed all of our lives. In such few words he paints just a beautiful picture. Too much for me as I don’t want to think about him ever leaving us but have a listen

Doesnt make me cry as such, but the line 'nobody heard his dying words… thats the way it goes" gets me everytime for some reason. That and I find the violin solo of this song very very moving.

To be honest, I could pick about 10 Townes songs that get me emotional.

Marie is just so incredibly sad.

Used to great effect in the Wier movie, Gallipoli. Doesn’t get much better than that film btw.

His self-titled album is one of my absolute favourites. The guy definitely had a lot of hardship in his life, much of it self-inflicted from what I’ve read.

Pancho & Lefty was a pretty big hit for Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard in the early 80s. I like how Townes makes a few little cameos in the video for that version.

The Bushwhackers did the best version of the Eric Bogle classic about the poor blokes at Gallipoli.

The line about charging into the Turkish barrage that “… nearly blew us right back to Australia” gets me each time.

Pink Floyd - Wish you were here, always makes me cry now.

I’d appreciate if people close to me stopped choosing it for their funeral playlist.

Black - Pearl Jam

Another music thread. Think an external review is in order to see if blitz is concentrating on our core business.

I’m going to provide the Lyrics for our last 10 years:

Kill the King - Megadeth

Broken down, feeling naked
Leaving me unfulfilled
Promising compromise
Championing mediocrity

Time and time again
What you said ain’t what you mean
Even if all my bones are broken
I will drag myself back from the edge to

Kill the King, The King is dead, Long live the King,
I am the King, God save the King

I reveal a deceiver
In the highest seat in the land
His idle hands the Devil’s workshop
Generate more smoke than heat

Time and time again
What you said ain’t what you mean
Even if all my bones are broken
I will drag myself back from the edge to

Kill the King, The King is dead, Long live the King,
I am the King, God save the King

Kill the King, The King is dead
I am the King, Long live the King

A new precedent in pain, a new precedent in pain
Mankind is blown to dust, mankind is blown to dust
An explosion of the Brain, an explosion of the Brain
Spontaneously combust, spontaneously combust

Kill the King, The King is dead, Long live the King,
I am the King

Could go with these from In My Darkest Hour as well:

All these years I thought I was wrong
Now I know it was you
Raise your head, raise your face
Your eyes, tell me who you think you are

I walk
I walk alone into the promised land
There’s a better place for me
But it’s far, far away

My whole life is work built on the past
But the time has come when all things shall pass
This good thing passed away
