Well.
But, but, we should just get over it and move on. /sarc. FMD
Well said Bomber ‘hate the Australian Football League.’ I despise every single one of them. Craven bustards.
This is Michael Warner’s best work yet.
The absolute raw emotion displayed by Bomber in that email and desperation he shows in pleading for Evans to man up and come clean to help his “former best mate, James Hird” days after his hospitalisation and the others has the potential to become their ‘Sarah’ moment in swaying the general public to the shonky dealings of the AFL during the Saga.
His references to the players " hating Essendon and the AFL", " Watergate, where the coverup is worse than the crime", " people turning away from the game if the AFL continue their current behaviour " must make people start to think more deeply about the way our game has been hijacked by these white collar corporate criminals running OUR game.
I applaud Warner’s courage in putting out these sort of articles in the msm and going against the grain of the AFL accredited ’ conga line of suckholes’ (one of Paul Keating’s greatest ever quotes) and the Herald Sun for backing his articles and publishing them too.
The more of these type of articles that appear that show how this whole shitfest has affected the people most closely touched by the Saga, the better it will be towards the truth being finally exposed.
To think that Bomber made this heartfelt plea to Evans for help straight after hearing of James Hirds drug overdose 17 months ago and that Evans has stayed silent in all that time shows how much of a coward Evans really has been throughout the whole ordeal. His complete lack of character is evident for all to see now.
Thanks again Michael Warner for all the good work that you’ve done in trying to get as much of the truth out there as you possibly could…keep up the good work.
Indeed, well done Mick… and poor Bomber.
That’s some powerful ■■■■.
Evans won’t say anything, of course.
Mick Warner has been the one journo I have felt like I can trust through this whole thing. No opinions of his own, just reporting the story without any bias. That is raw and emotional from Bomber. Evans probably has self interest at play as to why he’s never heed Thompson’s advice and expose everything. Personally I’d be happy if he never stepped foot inside the EFC again and was never invited to any club functions. He sold the club, players, Hirdy, Bomber, etc down the river to appease Demetriou, Fitzpatrick and the AFL. ■■■■. PS: The club MUST get around Hirdy and Bomber and heal the rift. Regardless of what happens with his arrest, I fear for Bomber I really do…
Brilliant post Billy.
Bomber’s email makes you think maybe our on field performances reflect the lack of satisfactory and truthful resolution the saga has had.
It’s like working for a company you dislike but it’s where you get well paid for your qualifications and talent but you never quite trust them. I’m not suggesting Essendon is currently untrustworthy, but the governing body is.
I agree, though in IMO it was more that he sacrificed the club rather than sold.
Only my opinion, of course, think once the realization of what he had done dawned on him, his health deteriorated til his breakdown happened.
Presumably Evans has no disparagement constraints on him, given he was gone before the “agreement” that we brought the game into disrepute. If indeed he did have a mental breakdown prior to leaving, his failure to speak up says he’s either still fragile and/or extremely callous about those in similar (much worse) positions.
A few posters over recent days have been wondering what has prompted the recent back and forth about the saga and who is blameworthy (Fitzpatrick, Brayshaw). They have speculated that something was going on behind the scenes.
Was this it? Maybe Fitzpatrick knew Warner had the email and was about to write an article about it/
You could be right there Littlehirdy in regards to the drop in form by some of our players and still having basically no closure from the saga.
I feel that both Hurley and Heppell, as basically senior leaders of the the playing group, have carried a heavy burden throughout the past 5-6 years and with anything negative that happens at the club, be it non-saga or saga related, they feel responsible in some way whether they should or not.
Mick Malthouse may have been correct in stating a couple of weeks ago that the club was still affected by the past.
This is where we as supporters of the club’s players, coaches and general public too have to tread warily in our criticism of the guys in regards to their onfield performances and perhaps also the coaches as we really don’t know what anyone involved are still feeling to this very day.
Double post (Wrong threaded)
Remember when Malthouse went & saw Woosha for a “Tour”,… and 2 days later wrote &/or spoke about the players still being Saga Fcked/Scarred??
Now it comes out here that they apparently HATE the club they are playing for for what they’ve done, … and people here are saying (myself included) that they seem to be spiritless.
This is the sort of reason you just don’t blame the coach/coaches etc so instantly.
Yes, I think that has become more evident in the last couple of months. We’ve been sold a straw house with the #moveon movement, no doubt developed by one of the many AFL House propaganda departments.
Putting my tinfoil hat firmly on it does seem quite a coincidence that Hird was robbed of some “electronical devices” with this saga stuff coming out this week
I gotta admit, I’m far from all over this saga caper. It just hurts to much. So keep that in mind when i ask this stupid question…
Is there any single short and coherent theory on what “truth” Thompson refers to in his email?
That the club & players were set up to take a fall over PED’s to fire a warning shot over all the clubs bows and end any fking about by “Physedders”, and when there was no real evidence or proof it had actually happened, were stitched up and railroaded by everyone that perpetrated the set up until a Gulty verdict was obtained, screwing over a lot of really good people, and running their reputations into the ground in the process.
I hear what the club did to these guys and it makes me so angry at the club.
until these guys are welcomed back to the club and the relationships are fixed the club can gagf
The club has got its way, gave in to the afl, taking any risk out of our club, got the most vanilla playing group and coach.
We are a club that has lost its soul
The AFL were certain the players were guilty before any investigation had been undertaken.
Their preference was to scapegoat the coaches/staff, particularly Hird.
And they did EVERYTHING in their power to ensure they got their preferred outcome.
A lot of other stuff happened down the track, but, as far as Evans is concerned, I think think this is the “truth” Thompson was referring to. I could be wrong—there may be a lot more “truth” involved.
I reckon events are too close together to realistically make that connection. Mick Warner would have had to get legal advice, etc, before going to print with that.
Weren’t Thompson’s computers seized during the drug raids. I wonder if that’s how the email got leaked? Do any blitzers work for police computer forensics?
I probably should have clearer, I was indicating maybe he was robbed preemptively to get hold/destroy of whatever info he has that could be damaging against the afl
