Sorry Saga - Why do we fight?

Sam Newman smelled a rat when ASADA and the AFL (and Evans) conspired against the club as did Graeme Cornes. Both have had the courage to call it out, unlike so many others who know it was against stitch up but kept quiet.

so Sam Newnham said Doc Reid kept some tapes, during the SAGA…
wondering whether they will see the light of day.
could be explosive, depending on whats on them.

Thanks @Hoffy, was wondering what had happened re Jack.

Will be interesting to see what happens now with the swimmer (can’t remember his name) re a sample taken 8 years ago.

There is little you can do to disprove retesting when it occurs so far back in time - How can you trace, document and test products taken eight years ago ?

“inadvertent contamination, WADA needs to introduce minimum concentrations for positive tests”.

Mmmm…Armstrong used to get mini injections to say under a certain levels didn’t he?

Interesting, damned if you do, damned if you don’t. Better off allowing the “good” supplements and just banning the harmful ones which was the basis of banning doping in the 1st place, eg protecting the athletes health.

A subsequent invoice dated 29 February 2012, both the Hexarelin and ‘Peptide Thymosin’ costs were re-credited to the club, so were not paid on 11 April as a part of this subsequent invoice.

  • Was Hamilton around at this time?

I recall the invoices were investigated, and these specific products had been underlined, some notes had been written etc, indicating some investigation had gone into what was going on.

ASADA interviews did not/could not identify who made these handwritten notes.

  • Someone investigated this and made notes.

  • Perhaps ‘MRC’ or ‘ICB’ listed on these invoices and that is why they were reversed?

These references are acronyms for Medical Rejuvenation Clinic and Institute of Cellular Bioenergentics. Dank is a director of both.

Yep agree, which is why I am interested in what the outcome will be.

The case was meant to be heard on 9/11/2020.

me too. I said when he goes, so do I and I did.

We have heard nothing about it at all. I’m wondering if Bruce had trouble getting his witnesses?

@msdo this case is about Australian swimmer Brenton Rickard re the London games which were 8 years ago.

https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2020/nov/06/brenton-rickard-australian-olympic-swimmer-reveals-positive-drug-test-eight-years-after-london-games#:~:text=Swimming-,Brenton%20Rickard%3A%20Australian%20Olympic%20swimmer%20reveals%20positive%20drugs,eight%20years%20after%20London%20Games&text=Australia%20is%20in%20danger%20of,ago%20returned%20a%20positive%20result.

As McDevitt said about the Essendon players - they should know what goes into their bodies, no excuses.

geez that’s hard on Rickard.
he didn’t even swim in the final, but because he swam in the heats Aus lose medals lol.

also sounds like it was minimal
anyway so could be contaminated etc

sounds like another witch hunt.

Nah - It’s a witch hunt that countries like Australia have lead the chorus and its come back to bite them on the bumb.

So America pass the Rodchenkov Act which makes doping a criminal offence - The kicker is the USA has made it cross-jurisdictional in its purpose BUT it excludes American professional and college sport - You wouldn’t read about it !

Passed by the Senate, needs to be signed off by the President. Also, limited to international events involving US athletes, sponsors or broadcasters. Reportedly not applicable to doping by an athlete as such , rather a conspiracy to influence an event.
Also, not clear whether the criminal standard of proof would apply.
It could do more for the gambling industry now that US sports wagering is allowed.

So in other words, American professional and college athletes would not partake in such events !

ASADA/WADA share an opinion, if it happened in one sport its likely other sports in the same country are doing the same thing. That’s how they think everyone is guilty until proven innocent and that doesn’t happen often unless you are Russia or similar.

ps I acknowledge my bias toward them.

Reportedly , in the Ticket program, Sharpe of ASADA has raised concerns about athletes being pinged for contaminated supplements . All sympathy for Australian swimmers. There is a solution - reverse the standard of proof to WADA to establish that banned substances and methods meet the criteria for performance enhancement.
