What with the Feds and a pack of journos banging on about unelected bodies like ICAC allegedly bringing down a Premier ( why we can’t have a similar body at Fed level):

  • how does it feel about the unelected head of the statutory authority of its own creation - ASADA - wrecking lives and careers , on the basis of a foreign private organisation which sets the rules for ASADA to act as a vigilante?

Vigilante….McDevitt, good fit

Mick Warner would have been familiar with Ben’s character, knew him through his own father who worked closely with him on bringing peace in the Solomon Islands , Ben a former parachutist in the Army.

Really?? What a missed opportunity. :sunglasses:

Opportunity for what ? To give him a “special” parachute, you mean ?

Didn’t he get a " golden parachute " after his ASADA exploits?

Got a minor WADA and Commonwealth Games role in anti doping at a CG event, but that was about it. No one has picked him up in the athlete sector, doubt that any athletes would support a role…
I was that AFL guy promoted by Howman - the one who has a hand in editing ASADA reports , featured as a speaker at an international event with the AFL Doc spreading untruths about the players - got a gig in the UK, think World or UK Athletics .org, running the integrity unit for track and field athletes.

Thanks, knew it started with C, and the one whose name started with F who got parachuted from AFLPA to nominal CEO of the Saints.

Yeah, there’s plenty of names starting with F for that one.

Matt Finnis.

Yuk .John Coates at NPC, pleased Feds following AOC lead in protecting athletes, including anti doping.
Tracey Holmes is participating in the show, thanks him for finally appearing at NPC

  • first Q is whether he is making a career change to politics , just answer yes or no
    • he doesn’t answer yes or no
  • next and last Q from her, about IOC and human rights
    • IOC must respect sovereignty, not an intergovernmental body
( but how did it get UN observer status?)

I was going to watch but, I just can’t. I despise the person too much.

Less arrogant than usual, does not seem well, on the defensive about arrangements for Qld games, PM apologised for his previous negative comments, with you all the way and the way you will run it.

  • seems some probs with Feds with who gets nominated to run Bris Games

Journos going local issues, no Qs of IOC dominance of WADA or CAS ( including his role)
Chip comes in, Qs about his future role in AOC and his AOC consultancy fees.

  • says retiring, but remains member of ExEc for a while, could then become life member; will be paid consultancy for Bris Games: has not annointed a successor

Gets asked about his geatest AOC/IOC moments

  • does not mention E34

Thanks BA

Did he mean if he stays on long enough he’s a life member, or just that he reckons he’ll get it awarded? I’m having difficulty calibrating the humility applicable to that statement.

I don’t know about that, but he is definitely a country member.
