I heard Adelaide was the best because the crowds weren’t as big, which meant you could get up close to the bands easily and security wasn’t as tight, so you could just walk around with drinks etc.
In any case, as much as I love to get ■■■■■■ it’s always too hard to really bother at festivals. Going for a ■■■■ or another drink and trying to find your way back to your mates in the mosh pit is a nightmare. Even just trying not to spill your drink (tinnies aren’t so bad, but don’t they pour them into cups?) is hard.
Of course caged areas suck and make you wonder why you even bother, and there’s nothing more draining than having a few bevvies and then stop drinking for an hour or 2, then having a few more and then stopping again, over the course of 7 hours in the sun. Oh, then paying $6 for a water because you’re so dehydrated.
Actually, my other issue with festivals is the people I go with. I think I’d rather fly solo.
I hate being all set to see a band, as in “ok they are set to start in 5 mins, lets head over”. Then someone says, “hold up, I need to go for a slash”. Once they get back, someone else says “I’m gonna go chug a beer, wait for me near the big psychadelic pineapple thingimy, then we’ll hea dup the front”, then someone says “hey, I just got a msg from such and such, they’ll be hear in 5 mins”, then “oh, they said to meet them at the hairy banana”, then “there they are, oh, now they just need to go to the toilet”, then, “actually we are gonna go check out the hip hop tent, so just go without us, cool”.

got a few clashes, but get to see most of the ones I wanted. Starting early with Apocalyptica tomorrow… nothing really catching my eye early on Sunday though. Maybe Area 7. Any recommendations between 12pm and 4pm Sunday?
Incubus (Brandon Boyd is my hero and was simply superb live and I knew going in, that they were amazing live but they blew me away). It was surreal.

I’m sure Fall Out Boy would have been right up there but unfortunately I missed them because my mate actually got heat stroke and we had to go back to our hotel as he wasn’t feeling too flash.
Really loved all the bands I saw though, just a pity about how unrelenting the heat was.
