Looking forward to hearing some new FNM live on Sunday.
David Brent.
Hope you get them at a decent volume. Adelaide was 2/10. FNM themselves were awesome. Epic, you might even say.

Yeah main stage Brisbane is decent volume. I plan to get up close. best laid plans though…

They are releasing Superhero (aka Leader of Men) as a vinyl single next week.
Has anybody seen Soundgarden this tour, and if so, how were they?

Tried to see them in Melbourne at SW but as soon as Incubus finished their set on stage 1 (stage 2 was exactly next to it) Soundgarden started immediately and was totally packed with no hope of getting anywhere remotely near the stage.
But by all reports they were amazing.
Yeah I saw half of their set from about halfway back, they rocked. If you like SG you would have enjoyed it. Good old alterniative, grunge, rock’n’roll. Will always be better at their “own show” but songs like Outshined, Superunknown and The Day I Tried to Live were pretty awesome. No Jesus Christ Pose though (pretty sure) which few people were hoping for… Kim Thayill’s still got it going on though he’s looking a bit old.
I think at their own show you get drawn into their vibe more and you’re more focussed, whereas at festivals it’s a bit hard not to be distracted by what’s going on around you.
I think FTM were lucky that it was dark for their set and people were focussed on them as they were the headline act. They thoroughly deserved it though as they have such a good range of songs, from the heavier stuff like Epic through to the mellow groovy stuff to some songs that are almost opera or even humorous. Soundgarden (and most bands really) look pretty one dimensional in comparison.

Would love to see SG as they were one of my fave bands back in the day, it’s just that Cornell’s voice sounds pretty crap these days and I reckon I’d be disappointed.
I would’ve liked to go to Soundwave this year but saving for my Europe trip. Too bad.
No his voice doesn’t sound crap, sure its not at it’s highest point but he still belts it out better than most. I thought they rocked but disappointing by no JCP.
FNM totally dominated. Slick, heavy, manic set.
Steel Panther get rock moment of day for having a stage full of topless women.
From the bands that I saw.
Incubus (Brandon Boyd is my hero and was simply superb live and I knew going in, that they were amazing live but they blew me away). It was surreal.
Escape The Fate/Falling in reverse
Tonight Alive
Papa Roach
I’m sure Fall Out Boy would have been right up there but unfortunately I missed them because my mate actually got heat stroke and we had to go back to our hotel as he wasn’t feeling too flash.
Really loved all the bands I saw though, just a pity about how unrelenting the heat was.
And people say “opinions can’t be wrong”!

Basing my opinion entirely on how he sounded on King Animal. And he didn’t sound too good IMO.
I’ll have to go listen to some recent live stuff…

To quote Homer… “Well, that’s not how I recall it!” I thought he was freaking amazing.
But, yeah, no Jesus Christ Pose, strange decision.
I saw Cornell at the Palais solo/accoustic about 2 years ago (this has been discussed with other blitzers a few times) and he was amazing vocally, and there was nothing for his voice to hide behind. The range of some of those Audioslave songs is extreme, e.g, Wide Awake.
I’m sure he has some days when it’s not top notch but on the Sunday in Melbourne it sounded pretty good to me.
I saw them at the Music Bowl a few years ago and he sounded pretty damned good. I normally think open air shows suck, obviously the Bowl is better than every single other open stage in the city but still.
Power through his range not absolute 100% but not very far from it.
Saw them at BDO 3 years ago. Chris nailed Far Beyond the Wheel very close to the original, and equally as good as when i saw them at a Brisbane nightclub in 94, and that’s no mean feat.
This time around he didn’t get quite that close, still very good, but was last gig of the tour (Brisbane) so probably expected.
I thought Cornell sounded frickin amazing.
If you want to keep your respect for Cornell, make sure you never look up
‘audioslave, killing in the name live.’
They apparently covered quite a few RATM songs near the end of their touring days. It was horrendous.
was never really a fan of Audioslave or some of his solo work.
Love RATM
Love Soundgarden

Jesus wept, that was ghastly.

Glad that was not just me.
Every time I heard something of them it was like “hey, remember how good RATM was? And how good Soundgarden was? Well, instead of doing that, they’re doing this instead, for some reason”.
