We can expect that both teams will be close to full strength then, barring any unexpected injuries Fremantle may cop against GWS.
That was always going to be the case. Last week they said the GWS game was the aim but if not then, definitely our game.
Will Brodie - is that inclusion going to make a big difference for us?
Unlikely. Tbh I’d say he may not get picked.
Taberner out is a godsend for us. I know its a bit of a meme, but you can count 3 goals minimum out now.
Coming off the bye this week-
Freo - loss
Brisbane - loss
Syd/Saints - nullify
Hopefully it’s not a trend
He’s due for Amiss or two I reckon.
I think we need the rest to freshen up and aren’t disadvantaged by it.
Would have Freo as favourites regardless.
Mass out, Snelling to sub, Perkins forward and Parish into the midfield.
I’d also play Bryan over Phillips, which might happen as Phillips doesn’t seem to like travelling to WA.
Pies fell to the WA loss trend - is it only us and Melb who didn’t succumb? Trend brakers!
How long do the players actually get though?
Martin said they get 4 days off and are at the club on Friday.
He’s not even going to bother with the trip to WA.
Only two teams to win the week after playing in Perth are the Bulldogs (who beat Hawthorn) & us (beating North).
This is what I’d do as well.
Shiel and Setterfield can come back through the VFL
Not everyone loses off the bye. The afl did a stat on it and I think we are 5-5 which would be about our average win loss ratio over the year almost since theres been one.(perhaps better)
Well Bryan was pretty average against West Coast. Maybe we could make it a double.
They’re going to roll out Taberner for one final game and an 8 goal haul
Fremantle are always tough to beat in WA but we will be a genuine chance as we will have one of our strongest lineups for the year in.
Merrett has done lots of heavy lifting over the last month start him off the bench with his mate Parish. Stringer, Caldwell and Hobbs all showed what they can do in the midfield against Carlton…
OUT: Snelling, Hind
IN: Parish, Shiel
Lineup:
Ridley Zerk McGrath
Heppell Lav Redman
Martin Stringer Durham
Perkins Weideman Shiel
Langford 2MP Menzie
Draper Hobbs Caldwell
INT: Parish Merrett Guelfi Phillips
SUB: Hind
I laugh at those dropping Hind without a defender replacement. We’ve gone in with seven defenders for about three years. But we’re going to stop that now? When the defence is playing well?
Hind or Heppell are only being dropped if Kelly comes back in. They’re not playing only 6 defenders to squeeze another mid in.
also surely you don’t take 2 players who have missed now a chunk of footy and put them in together in the same round.
that’s the thing with the young kids doing a pretty decent job in the middle, you dont’ have to rush players back.
I know it won’t happen, but you could give each of parish and shiel a week in the vfl to clear out the cobwebs, build the confidence straight back up then unleash them the following week, ditto setterfield.
rushing back parish and shiel in the same game though, that’s frought with danger, esp interstate.
Hope Laverde doesn’t play on Amiss. Lav loves initiating body contact in marking contests and Amiss is such a slight body, so can get pushed off the ball quite easily at this stage of his career. Umpires will fall for the ‘blocking’ or ‘pushing’ free kicks I feel. Hope BZT takes him for this reason.
